The best AI mock interview platform for universities and career centers is the one students will actually use and your office can roll out without a long procurement cycle. Our pick is CoPilot Interview, an AI interview assistant students can start today with no account and no card, scoring each spoken answer out of 10; programs can talk to us about Enterprise seats. If you need an admin dashboard, LMS assignments and outcome reports on day one, Big Interview, Hiration, Huru and Yoodli sell institutional plans built for that.
This guide is for career services, bootcamps and workforce programs buying for a group. If you are a student choosing an app for yourself, read the best AI interview tools for students instead. At program level, an AI interview assistant for students is software that runs practice interviews, scores spoken answers and explains what to improve, so students get more practice than advisers can schedule. For the wider category, see our 2026 report on AI interview assistants. Vendor facts below come from each vendor's own website, checked October 2026.
What should a career center look for in an AI mock interview platform?
Most vendors demo well. These seven criteria decide whether a platform still gets used in week six:
- Practice format. Spoken, typed or on video; questions built from a résumé and job description or drawn from a fixed bank; and whether the AI asks follow-up questions.
- Feedback quality. A scored answer with what to fix and a model answer teaches more than a single number. Have two advisers rate the feedback against your own rubric.
- Admin dashboard and outcome reporting. Completions, scores over time and cohort views, in the form your provost, funders or accreditors ask for.
- Seat pricing. Almost every institutional plan is quote-based. Ask for a price per active student and a pilot rate, not just a seat count.
- SSO and LMS. Single sign-on through your campus identity provider, and assignments inside Canvas or another learning management system.
- Accessibility. Captions, keyboard navigation, screen-reader support and a current accessibility conformance report.
- Student privacy. What is collected at sign-up, where recordings and transcripts are stored, whether they train AI models, and whether the vendor will sign your data-protection terms.

The 6 platforms, reviewed
1. CoPilot Interview: best for a fast, low-risk pilot
The desktop app, for Windows 10+ and macOS 12+, builds a Mock Interview from the student's résumé and the job description. Students choose the level, 3, 5 or 8 questions, and the mix of behavioral, technical, system design and coding questions. Each question is read aloud, each spoken answer is scored out of 10 with what worked, what to fix and a model answer, and a report card closes the session. Coding questions never auto-submit, so students can think in silence. On shared lab computers, the browser AI mock interview needs nothing installed and covers 113 real questions across 9 tracks, from behavioral and product to SQL and security.
Why it's our Best choice: the free plan is real practice time, not a trial: 15 minutes every day, all four modes, no account and no card, so a pilot can start the week you decide. Advisers can use Interviewer Mode in the same app to run structured mock interviews with suggested questions and a scored report, and students also get the Resume Builder, which tailors a résumé to a job posting.
Honest limits: the self-serve plans have no admin dashboard, LMS integration or published accessibility report, so your office sees results only when students share their report cards. The full app is desktop only, with an Android companion in beta and no iPhone app yet; there is no human coach; and free sessions stop at 15 minutes. For seats and rollout support, see CoPilot Interview for teams and organizations; Enterprise pricing is custom.
2. Big Interview: best course-plus-practice package
Big Interview, from Skillful Communications, Inc., pairs a video lesson library with an Interview Simulator that builds voice-only mock interviews from a résumé or job description, VideoAI feedback on pace, filler words, eye contact and body language, and a résumé checker. Its higher education page lists customizable assignments, progress tracking and reporting, Canvas and Google Classroom integration, and closed captions with Spanish translation. Institutional licenses are custom-quoted.
Strengths: structured teaching for students who don't yet know how interviews work, and assignments inside the LMS. Limits: no free plan for individuals (personal plans start at $39 for 30 days), no coding practice described, and SSO and FERPA terms aren't stated on that page, so ask. Our Big Interview review has the details.
3. Hiration: best counselor dashboard
Hiration sells an AI career platform to career centers. Its career center page describes a counselor dashboard with cohort views and automated reminders, analytics on engagement, résumé completion and interview performance, AI mock interviews with AI, counselor or peer review (including speech and body-language analysis), customizable evaluation criteria, and SSO with SAML. It states compliance with GDPR, CCPA, SOC 2 and FERPA, and its homepage states WCAG 2.1 accessibility.
Strengths: built around the adviser's workflow, with human review alongside AI scoring. Limits: pricing is by demo only, and interview practice is one module in a broader résumé and career suite, so test the mock interviews specifically during the pilot.
4. Huru: best free option students can use on their own
Huru, operated by Beatview, gives job seekers every feature free: a live AI interviewer with follow-up questions on video or audio, each answer scored out of 100, and a large question library. Its Enterprise plan on huru.ai, priced per organization and aimed at universities, adds a centralized admin dashboard, bulk licenses and user management, performance analytics and a dedicated account manager.
Strengths: zero cost for students, so the institution pays only for oversight. Limits: SSO, LMS, accessibility and FERPA aren't stated on its site, no coding practice is described, and its native app is for iPhone and iPad, with a web app elsewhere. Our Huru vs Big Interview comparison covers the two side by side.
5. Yoodli: best for communication and delivery coaching
Yoodli is an AI roleplay and communication-coaching platform. Its Business plan, priced per seat and billed annually after a demo, lists custom rubrics, coaching for every learner, dashboards and exports, LMS, CRM and MCP integrations, SSO, SCIM and SOC 2 Type 2, with data excluded from AI training by default. Individuals can start on Starter, with 5 lifetime sessions, or Pro at $8 a month billed annually.
Strengths: delivery feedback on filler words, pacing and conciseness, plus mature identity controls. Limits: it is built for communication skills broadly rather than job-specific interview content, and its pricing page doesn't mention universities. See our Yoodli review.
6. Quinncia: an AI career assistant built for universities
Quinncia positions itself around career centers and academic programs, with an AI assistant called Quinn that offers tailored mock interviews, résumé analysis and personalized guidance. Its homepage doesn't state dashboard, SSO, accessibility or privacy details, and pricing is by demo, so put each of those on your vendor questionnaire before a pilot.
Does FERPA apply to an AI interview assistant for students?
It can. FERPA protects the privacy of students' education records at schools that receive funds from U.S. Department of Education programs. Under the regulations, records maintained by a party acting for the school can count as education records. A school may treat an outside vendor as a "school official" only if the vendor performs a service the school would otherwise use its own staff for, stays under the school's direct control for the use of the records, and doesn't redisclose them (the Department of Education's FERPA page). This is general information, not legal advice; your privacy office makes the call.
In practice, ask each vendor what student data it collects at sign-up, whether recordings and transcripts are used to train AI models, how long they are kept, and whether it will sign your data-protection terms. A pilot carries less risk when students don't have to create an account. CoPilot Interview's free plan runs without signup: audio is streamed in short encrypted segments to a speech-to-text model and the question text goes to the AI model the student chose; nothing is kept on our servers beyond the request, and session files stay in the student's Documents folder.
A 30-day pilot checklist for career services
A checklist we wrote for programs testing any AI mock interview platform:
- Before launch: pick one cohort, such as seniors applying for internships, and one outcome to watch, such as practice sessions completed per student.
- Vendor questionnaire: data collected, retention, AI training, SSO, LMS, accessibility report and price per active student.
- Adviser test: two advisers each complete three mock interviews and rate the feedback against your own rubric.
- Accessibility check: ask students who use assistive technology to try it before you scale.
- Week 1: launch with a 15-minute workshop that shows students how to read a score and redo their weakest answer.
- Weeks 2 and 3: ask each student to complete at least three practice sessions; collect report cards or dashboard exports.
- Week 4: survey students on usefulness, compare real usage with the seats you would pay for, and decide.
- Write down the rules: practice is encouraged; in real interviews, students follow each employer's rules on AI.
Practice it: what students should do in week one
Students get the most from any platform when practice is spoken and repeated. A simple first week: build two STAR stories with the STAR story builder, run a 5-question Mock Interview from a real job description in CoPilot Interview's AI interview assistant, redo the lowest-scoring answer in their own words, and finish with the interview readiness quiz. Advisers hiring their own staff can compare interviewer-side AI tools for recruiters.
If students later use any assistant during a real interview, the message is simple: follow the rules of the employer or platform you're interviewing with — many people use it only to practice, which works on the free plan.
Pilot it with one cohort this week
Students can start a scored AI mock interview in the browser with nothing to install, or download the desktop app for 15 free minutes every day. No account or card needed.

What is the best AI mock interview platform for career centers?
Our pick is CoPilot Interview for a fast, low-risk pilot: students practice free for 15 minutes a day with no account, and Mock Interview scores each spoken answer out of 10 with a model answer. If you need an admin dashboard and LMS assignments from day one, compare Big Interview, Hiration, Huru and Yoodli. We make CoPilot Interview.
How much do AI mock interview platforms cost for universities?
Almost all institutional plans were quote-based as of October 2026: Big Interview, Hiration and Quinncia through a demo or custom license, Huru priced per organization, Yoodli per seat billed annually, and CoPilot Interview Enterprise on custom pricing. Ask for a price per active student and a pilot rate.
Do AI mock interview tools comply with FERPA?
Some say so: Hiration states FERPA compliance on its career center page. Most vendor pages we checked don't mention FERPA, so ask each vendor to sign your data-protection terms and confirm retention, AI training use and limits on redisclosure.
Can students use an AI interview assistant without a school license?
Yes. CoPilot Interview's free plan gives 15 minutes every day with no account, and Huru's job-seeker plan is free. Yoodli's Starter plan has 5 lifetime sessions. Big Interview has no free plan, but many schools license it, so students should ask the career office first.
Which platforms integrate with Canvas or single sign-on?
As of October 2026, Big Interview lists Canvas and Google Classroom, Hiration lists SSO and SAML, and Yoodli's Business plan lists SSO, SCIM and LMS integrations. Huru and Quinncia don't state them on their sites, and CoPilot Interview doesn't list LMS integration on its self-serve plans.
Can career advisers run mock interviews with AI support?
Yes. CoPilot Interview's Interviewer Mode, included on the free plan, suggests role-specific questions, scores answers as they happen and drafts a report the adviser can review with the student. Hiration also supports counselor and peer review of practice interviews.
