Huru vs Big Interview: Which AI Interview Helper Fits You?

A free AI mock-interview app against a course-first training platform, compared on practice, feedback, price and university licensing as of October 2026.

Huru vs Big Interview comes down to free practice volume versus structured teaching. Huru is a free AI interview helper that runs unlimited mock interviews with a live AI interviewer and scores each answer out of 100, while Big Interview is a paid course-plus-practice platform with 170 video lessons, a voice-only interview simulator and AI video feedback, from $39 for 30 days.

As of October 2026, every Huru feature is free for job seekers, and its only paid plan is Enterprise for organizations. Big Interview lists no free plan or trial, but offers a 30-day money-back guarantee, and it sells custom-priced licenses to career centers, so your school may already pay for it. Every Huru fact below comes from huru.ai and every Big Interview fact from biginterview.com, checked in October 2026. We make CoPilot Interview, a third option covered near the end; for the whole category, see our report on AI interview assistants in 2026.

How does practice work in each?

Huru: a free AI interviewer

On Huru's site, you choose an interview from its role library, build one from a job description, or write up to five questions. The live AI interviewer then holds a spoken conversation with follow-up questions. You pick one of three interviewer personas, a pressure level (supportive, standard or demanding) and a length between 5 and 20 minutes, and you can answer on video or audio only. A Chrome extension turns a job post open in your browser into an interview, and practice runs in English, Spanish, Portuguese, German or French.

Strengths: unlimited free reps, realistic follow-ups and a role library that reaches far beyond tech. Limits: no native Android app, no human feedback, and no code editor described for technical rounds.

Big Interview: learn first, then practice

Big Interview is built around teaching. Its 170 video lessons are organized into 12 categories with step-by-step learning paths, and an answer builder helps you structure behavioral, technical and situational answers. Practice runs through two tools. The Interview Simulator is voice-only, which the company describes as "just like a real phone screen", and gives personalized questions after you upload your résumé. VideoAI analyzes answers you record on video. A Big Resume tool adds AI feedback on your résumé.

Strengths: a structured curriculum for people who don't know where to start, and video feedback on how you come across on camera. Limits: no free plan, a minimum spend of $39, and a format that pays off over several sessions rather than one evening. Our Big Interview review and Huru AI review cover each product in depth.

Pricing, free options and university licenses (as of October 2026)

Huru's pricing is simple: $0 for job seekers, with no subscription, and Enterprise by quote for organizations. Big Interview's personal pricing page lists three plans: Interview BootCamp at $39 for a 30-day subscription, Interview Accelerator at $99 for a 3-month subscription and Interview Pro at $299 one time for lifetime access. Its pricing page promises a 100% refund "if you don't see the results within 30 days", and its FAQ ties the refund to 30 days from the purchase date, so count from the day you pay.

University licensing. Huru says universities and hiring teams can ask about Enterprise, which adds an admin dashboard, bulk licenses, user analytics and a dedicated account manager. Big Interview's organization pricing is "flexible, custom pricing" by quote, aimed at career centers, workforce agencies, nonprofits and companies. If you're a student, an alum or in a workforce program, ask your career office which tools it already pays for before you buy anything.

Tip: With Big Interview, do your real evaluation inside the first 30 days, while the money-back guarantee still applies. With Huru there's nothing to lose, so run two full interviews before you decide whether you need more.

What feedback does each AI interview helper give?

Huru scores each answer out of 100 on five criteria: relevance, structure, specificity, impact and articulation. In a live interview, the overall score combines answer quality (70%) with conversation skills (30%). The report adds a verdict, communication habits such as pace, filler words and pauses, on-camera feedback when you answer on video, and coaching on each answer.

Big Interview splits feedback by tool. The simulator gives feedback on delivery and answer quality with a report on what to improve. VideoAI looks at body language, eye contact, pace and filler words in your recorded answers.

Both give you signals, not verdicts. An AI score can't tell you whether your story felt true, whether you picked the right example for this employer, or how a particular interviewer will react. Read the transcript before you trust a low score, because a misheard word can drag it down, and compare two attempts at the same question rather than chasing one number. Our guide to how AI interview assistants score answers explains what scores can and can't measure, and the AI interview helper overview shows where scored practice fits in a full prep plan.

Where CoPilot Interview fits

Our verdict: CoPilot Interview is the Best choice if your interview is for a specific job, especially a technical one, because its Mock Interview is built from both your résumé and the job description, and neither Huru nor Big Interview describes a code editor for coding questions. You choose the level, 3, 5 or 8 questions and the mix of behavioral, technical, system design and coding. Each question is read aloud, each spoken answer is scored out of 10 with what worked, what to fix and a model answer, and a report card closes the round.

It is also an AI interview assistant for Windows and macOS with a live Candidate Mode for Zoom, Microsoft Teams and Google Meet, which shows a structured answer in about 2 seconds after the question ends. Follow the rules of the employer or platform you're interviewing with — many people use it only to practice, which works on the free plan.

Honest limits: it's desktop only, the Android companion is a beta outside Google Play, there's no human coach and no lesson library, it doesn't analyze body language, and the free plan is 15 minutes a day. Huru gives you more free volume and an iPhone app; Big Interview teaches more. Disclosure: we make CoPilot Interview.

Practice it

  1. Run one Huru interview for the role on video, and note your two weakest criteria.
  2. Run a 3-question Mock Interview in CoPilot Interview from your résumé and the real job description, and redo the lowest-scoring answer in your own words.
  3. If your school licenses Big Interview, watch one lesson on the question type you scored worst on, then answer it again.

No install needed for a first try: the browser AI mock interview has 113 real questions across 9 tracks. Comparing other practice tools? Read Final Round AI vs Yoodli, Yoodli vs Big Interview and our guide to what "AI interview helper" and similar terms mean.
