Best AI Interview Tools for Students, Compared

Seven AI interview tools for internships and new-grad roles, with free tiers, student pricing and free school access checked on each vendor's own site.

The best AI interview tools for students are CoPilot Interview's free daily Mock Interview for scored spoken practice built from your résumé and the posting (we make it), Big Interview if your school already licenses it, Huru for free video practice, and interviewing.io's free AI Interviewer plus Aced Practice's free peer mocks for technical internships. None of the pricing pages we checked for this list in October 2026 shows a student discount, so the real savings come from free tiers and from tools your career center already pays for.

One rule applies to everything below: take online assessments and recorded screens yourself and follow the employer's rules. These tools are for practice beforehand. If you want a week-by-week plan rather than a tool list, our zero-budget recruiting plan for students covers a full season of 15-minute reps.

How we chose these tools

We compared published features, free tiers, prices and platforms on each vendor's own site and help center in October 2026, and we looked specifically for student pricing. We did not run hands-on trials with a student panel or a survey, and we don't repeat vendors' marketing figures. We favored tools that:

Google Interview Warmup, a common student pick, is not listed because Google retired it in April 2026. See what replaced Google Interview Warmup.

The 7 best AI interview tools for students, reviewed

1. CoPilot Interview (ours): best for scored practice from your own résumé

CoPilot Interview is a desktop app for Windows and macOS from NeuraSense AI LLC. It is not affiliated with Microsoft Copilot or GitHub Copilot. For students, two of its modes do most of the work:

Strengths: questions come from your own projects, clubs and part-time jobs rather than a generic list, and the free plan is real practice time, not a trial: 15 minutes every day, all four modes, no card and no signup. The browser AI mock interview adds 113 real questions across 9 tracks with nothing to install.

Limits: free sessions cap at 15 minutes, so a full 45-minute final-round rehearsal needs a paid hour. It doesn't watch you on camera, and there is no Linux build.

Price (as of October 2026): $0 on the free plan. For a few long rehearsals, a one-time 1-hour pack costs $5.99 and never expires, which usually suits a student budget better than Standard at $14.99 a month (sale; regular $19.99). There is no student discount, and new subscriptions carry a 14-day money-back guarantee if you used under 30 minutes of session time.

Who it fits: any student preparing for behavioral rounds, and engineering students who want to practice explaining code out loud.

2. Big Interview: best if your career center already pays for it

Big Interview is the most course-like tool here: video lessons, an answer builder for STAR stories, and an Interview Simulator with AI feedback on recorded answers. Many universities run their own Big Interview portals, and its support FAQ says that if your school or organization subscribes, it's free for you. Some schools give you an organization code to register.

Strengths: teaches before it tests, which helps if you've never interviewed. Its VideoAI report covers pace, filler words, volume and lighting on camera.

Limits: no free plan or trial for individuals; less useful for hands-on coding practice.

Price (as of October 2026): $39 for 30 days, $99 for 3 months or $299 for lifetime access, with a 30-day money-back guarantee. No student price is listed.

Who it fits: students at a subscribing school. Ask your career center before you pay. Our Big Interview review has the full breakdown.

3. Huru: best free video practice for recorded screens

Huru asks you questions, records your answer on camera and microphone, scores it and suggests a stronger version. As of October 2026 its site says every job-seeker feature is free, including unlimited mock interviews, interviews built from a job post and a Chrome extension that turns a listing into a practice set. Universities can license it through Enterprise.

Strengths: unlimited free on-camera reps, which suits internships that start with a recorded screen.

Limits: no native Android app (Android users use the web app) and no human feedback.

Price (as of October 2026): $0 for job seekers.

Who it fits: students facing one-way video interviews. Read our Huru AI review and our list of the best video interview practice tools.

4. interviewing.io AI Interviewer: best free technical practice for software internships

interviewing.io is known for paid anonymous mock interviews with senior engineers from large tech companies. Its FAQ says the AI Interviewer, which simulates a big-tech style coding and system design interview, is free, and its homepage says you can work more than 200 problems from Beyond Cracking the Coding Interview for free.

Strengths: realistic technical rounds without booking anyone.

Limits: technical only. Human sessions are audio and chat with no video.

Price (as of October 2026): AI Interviewer free; human mock interviews start at $179 and vary by subject. The FAQ promises a full refund if you're unhappy and mentions no student discount.

Who it fits: computer science students before a technical screen. See our interviewing.io review. For problem drills, pair it with the free coding interview cheat sheet and Big-O complexity visualizer.

5. Aced (formerly Exponent) and Aced Practice: best for peer mocks with another student

Exponent renamed itself Aced in August 2026, and Pramp's homepage says new Pramp sessions have run on Aced Practice since July 2024. The Aced pricing page lists a free Basic plan with 5 peer mocks a month, sample lessons and sample questions. Paid plans add all courses, unlimited peer mocks and, on Expert, AI mock interviews and AI feedback. Aced also runs a program for universities.

Strengths: practice with a real person for free, across coding, system design, product management and behavioral rounds.

Limits: partner quality varies, and the paid plans are pricey month to month.

Price (as of October 2026): Basic $0; Pro $79 a month or $12 a month on the annual plan; Expert $99 a month or $20 a month on the annual plan. Full refunds within 5 days of purchase. No student discount is listed.

Who it fits: students who want the pressure of a person watching. Compare it in CoPilot Interview vs Pramp and our Exponent (Aced) review.

6. Yoodli: best for fixing how you speak

Yoodli is an AI roleplay and speaking coach. You set an interview role and company, answer out loud, and get feedback on delivery; with your camera on, it adds notes on body language.

Strengths: targeted at filler words, pace and rambling, the habits that make nervous first interviews go long.

Limits: the free plan is small, and the product is now aimed mostly at companies training staff.

Price (as of October 2026): Starter includes 5 lifetime sessions; Pro $8 a month and Advanced $20 a month, both billed annually. No student discount is listed.

Who it fits: students who know their stories but deliver them too fast. See our Yoodli review.

7. ChatGPT voice or Gemini Live: best $0 warm-up

OpenAI's ChatGPT Voice help article lists voice on the Free plan, with usage limits, on web, iOS and Android. Google's help center says Gemini Live runs in the Gemini mobile app, not the web app (as of October 2026). Either can ask you questions aloud if you set it up, for example: Act as a recruiter for a [major] internship. Ask one behavioral question at a time, wait for my spoken answer, then name the single biggest fix.

Limits: you run the whole session, it doesn't know the posting unless you paste it, and limits vary by plan.

Who it fits: a five-minute warm-up before class or before a call. Our ChatGPT mock interview prompts give you more setups.

The practical takeaway: before paying for anything, ask your career center which tools it licenses and whether it runs mock interviews with staff or alumni.

Which AI interview tool should a student pick?

Tip: Recruiting for large tech internships starts early, often in late summer. Check our SWE internship recruiting timeline so your practice peaks before your first screen, not after it.

Practice for your internship interview out loud, free

Paste the posting and your résumé, and the AI asks tailored questions aloud, scores each spoken answer out of 10 with what to fix and a model answer, and finishes with a report card. The free plan gives you 15 minutes every day with no card and no signup.

FAQ

What is the best free AI interview tool for students?

It depends on the round. CoPilot Interview's free plan gives you 15 minutes of scored Mock Interview practice every day, Huru is free for recorded video answers, and interviewing.io's AI Interviewer is free for coding and system design practice.

Do AI interview tools offer student discounts?

None of the pricing pages we checked for this list in October 2026 shows a student discount. The savings come from free tiers and from schools that license tools for their students.

Is Big Interview free for students?

Only through a subscribing school or organization. Its FAQ says that if your school is subscribed, it's free for you. Otherwise it costs $39 for 30 days, $99 for 3 months or $299 for lifetime access, as of October 2026.

Which AI interview tool is best for software engineering internships?

Combine them. Use interviewing.io's free AI Interviewer for technical rounds, Aced Practice peer mocks for coding while someone watches, and CoPilot Interview's Mock Interview to practice behavioral questions and explaining your code out loud.

Can I use an AI tool during an online assessment or recorded interview?

No. Take the assessment yourself and follow the employer's rules. Use AI interview tools to practice beforehand.

There is no official number. A practical target is a short spoken session most days for two weeks, a redo of your weakest answers, and at least one mock with a real person before the interview.

Is CoPilot Interview the same as Microsoft Copilot?

No. CoPilot Interview is made by NeuraSense AI LLC and is not affiliated with Microsoft, Microsoft Copilot or GitHub Copilot.
