The best AI interview assistant for Windows is a desktop app that supports your version of Windows, installs from the vendor's own site without surprises, and hears the interviewer through your PC's audio output so it works with the Zoom, Microsoft Teams and Google Meet apps alike. Our pick is CoPilot Interview, a desktop app for Windows 10 and 11 with 15 free minutes every day; LockedIn AI, Verve AI and Final Round AI are the alternatives most worth testing.
We compared eight tools that state Windows support on their own sites, checked October 2026, on how each installs (installer, Microsoft Store or browser), the Windows versions it supports, Arm support, how it captures call audio, and price. It's one of the pages in our 2026 AI interview assistant research library. For installation steps and fixes for CoPilot Interview specifically, see our Windows setup guide.

What should you check before installing an interview AI app for PC?
An AI interview assistant is software that uses speech-to-text and a large language model to run practice interviews, suggest structured answers and give feedback. On Windows, five details decide whether it works when it counts:
- Desktop app or browser. A desktop app can use Windows loopback capture, which Microsoft's audio documentation describes as capturing the audio stream being played by an output device. That lets it hear the interviewer in any call app. A browser tool usually hears only a browser tab; our Chrome extension vs desktop comparison explains the trade-off.
- Windows version. Most tools here support Windows 10 and 11; Cluely lists Windows 11 only. Microsoft ended Windows 10 support on October 14, 2025, so Windows 11 is the safer long-term choice.
- Arm laptops. If your PC has a Snapdragon (Arm) chip, note that none of these vendors lists Arm support on its download page. Test the free plan before you pay.
- Where you install from. Download only from the vendor's own site. Expect a SmartScreen prompt for newer apps (below).
- Practice features. Pick the app you'll rehearse with, ideally one with a scored mock interview, so your setup test is also practice.
Our guide to system requirements covers memory, CPU and network.
Why does Windows show a SmartScreen warning, and is it safe?
Microsoft Defender SmartScreen checks downloaded apps against lists of known-unsafe files and frequently downloaded files. According to Microsoft's SmartScreen overview, it also checks the digital signature used to sign a file, and if a file or certificate has no established reputation, it is marked as higher risk and you see a warning. That's common for newer or less-downloaded apps, including several in this list.
- Safe pattern: you downloaded the file yourself from the vendor's official site, and the file name matches what the site lists. Click More info, check the app name, then Run anyway.
- Unsafe pattern: the installer came from an email attachment, an ad, a file-sharing link or a mirror site. Delete it and download a fresh copy from the official page.
After installing, check microphone access. Windows has a separate switch, "Let desktop apps access your microphone" (Windows 11 wording), under Settings, Privacy & security, Microphone, and desktop apps don't get individual toggles. Microsoft's guide to microphone permissions in Windows walks through it. Our Windows setup guide covers the SmartScreen prompt you may see when installing CoPilot Interview.
How each Windows AI interview app compares
1. CoPilot Interview: Best choice for practice-first Windows users
CoPilot Interview is a desktop app for Windows 10 or later (and macOS 12+), not a browser extension. You download CoPilot_Interview_Setup.zip from copilotinterview.com, unzip it and run it; no account or card is needed for the free plan. It runs in its own window beside Zoom, Microsoft Teams and Google Meet because it listens to your computer's audio rather than one meeting app.
Start with Mock Interview: it builds questions from your résumé and the job description, reads each one aloud and scores your spoken answer out of 10 with what to fix and a model answer, then a report card. Candidate Mode shows live captions of the interviewer's question and a structured answer in about 2 seconds after the question ends. Audio is streamed in short encrypted segments to a speech-to-text model and the question text goes to the AI model you chose; nothing is kept on our servers beyond the request, and session files stay in your Documents folder.
- Strengths: a free plan that isn't a trial (15 minutes every day across all four modes); Windows 10 support; scored practice in the same app you'd trust on the day; Interviewer Mode and a Resume Builder included.
- Limits: desktop only (Windows and macOS), with the Android companion a beta outside Google Play; you install from the zip on our site; no human coach; free sessions stop at 15 minutes; Arm support isn't listed separately, so test the free plan first on an Arm laptop.
- Price: Free $0; Standard $14.99/mo on sale (regular $19.99), 60-minute sessions, up to 100 minutes a day, no gap between sessions; Pro $29.99/mo; Pro+ $49.99/mo; Pro Annual $199.99/year. See pricing.
The AI interview app page lists what runs on Windows, macOS, the Android companion and the browser. CoPilot Interview isn't affiliated with Microsoft, Microsoft Copilot or GitHub Copilot.
2. LockedIn AI: best for one account on PC, web and phone
LockedIn AI's site lists a Windows app for Windows 10 and above, a web app for Chrome, Edge, Chromium, Opera and Brave, and iOS and Android apps. Its coding copilot lists 12 programming languages and a VS Code extension. The free plan gives 5-minute sessions, up to 60 minutes a day, with no card; unlimited plans start at $54.99/mo, or $39.99/mo billed every 3 months, as of October 2026. Limits: free sessions are too short for a full mock, and monthly and quarterly plans aren't refundable once started.
3. Verve AI: best for many spoken languages
Verve AI's Windows page offers an .exe installer and says the app supports current versions of Windows 10 and Windows 11; some features are desktop-only. It also runs in a browser and on mobile, and advertises 55+ languages. Per our October 2026 check, the free plan includes 3 copilot sessions a month and 5 mock interviews, and Standard is $44.99/mo or $16.99/mo billed annually. Limits: the free plan has few live sessions, and Standard is capped at 5 one-hour sessions a month.
4. Final Round AI: best broad paid suite
Final Round AI's download page offers a Windows .exe installer and a Mac app, without listing a minimum Windows version. Its product includes eight practice-interview scenarios and automatic debriefs. As of October 2026, Pro is $25/mo billed annually ($300) or $150 month to month, and the free plan covers preparation only. Limits: you can't try live features without paying.
5. Natively AI: best for technical users who want control
Natively's download page offers a Windows .exe setup file alongside Mac builds. Per our October 2026 check it runs on Windows 10 and 11, has no Linux build, is source-available and is free for personal use with your own AI API key or local models; hosted AI plans cost $8 to $35 a month and a Pro licence is $39/yr or $79 one-time. Limits: setup is on you, and it's a general live-conversation assistant rather than a practice tool.
6. Parakeet AI: best for paying per hour
Parakeet AI's site says its desktop app runs on Windows and macOS, and its browser version needs desktop Chrome, which is also how it runs on Linux. It supports 50+ languages and offers a free first mock interview. As of October 2026: 10 free sessions of up to 10 minutes, then $38 for a 1-hour credit, or unlimited at $149.90/mo. Limits: no Windows version is stated, and month-to-month unlimited is expensive.
7. Cluely: best general meeting assistant, on Windows 11 only
Cluely's download page lists Windows 11 with an x64 (64-bit) processor, 500 MB of disk space and 8 GB of RAM recommended. It's built for meetings and calls in general, not interview practice. Starter is free with limited AI responses, and Pro is $19.99/mo or $11.99/mo billed annually, as of October 2026. Limits: no Windows 10 support listed, and no interview-specific mock or scoring is described.
8. Sensei AI: best if you can't install software
Sensei AI runs as a web app, so it suits a work PC where installs are blocked. It includes free 15-minute copilot sessions, an AI resume builder and a story editor; paid plans are $89/mo, or $24/mo billed annually, as of October 2026. Limits: a browser tool usually hears only browser audio, so calls in the Zoom or Teams desktop apps are harder to cover.
Practice it: a 15-minute Windows test with headset tips
Run this a day or two before the interview on the same PC, headset and network. It fits inside CoPilot Interview's free daily 15 minutes.
- Connect your headset first. Set it as the default output and input under Settings, System, Sound, then open the assistant and the call app. Loopback capture records one output device, so switching devices mid-call can move the sound away from what the app hears.
- Prefer wired or USB. Bluetooth headsets often switch to a lower-quality hands-free mode when their microphone is in use, which hurts captions.
- Match the meeting app. Point Zoom, Teams or Meet at the same headset, or at "same as system".
- Run a 3-question mock interview out loud. If you hear the questions and your answers get scored, both the output and the microphone work.
- Test the interviewer side with a friend on the same call app reading two questions. Captions should show their words, not yours.
No install yet? The browser AI mock interview runs in Edge or Chrome with 113 questions across 9 tracks. If you use live help, follow the rules of the employer or platform you're interviewing with — many people use it only to practice, which works on the free plan.

What is the best AI interview assistant for Windows?
Our pick is CoPilot Interview, and we make it, so weigh that. It is a desktop app for Windows 10 and 11 with 15 free minutes every day, a scored Mock Interview, and live captions with a structured answer in about 2 seconds, and it hears Zoom, Microsoft Teams and Google Meet through your PC's audio. LockedIn AI is the alternative to test if you also want web and phone apps.
Do AI interview apps still work on Windows 10?
Many still do. As of October 2026, CoPilot Interview supports Windows 10 and later, LockedIn AI lists Windows 10 and above, and Verve AI supports current versions of Windows 10 and 11. Cluely lists Windows 11 only. Microsoft ended Windows 10 support on October 14, 2025, so moving to Windows 11 is the safer long-term choice.
Do AI interview apps run on Windows on Arm laptops?
Most vendors don't say. None of the eight tools we checked in October 2026 lists Windows on Arm support on its download page, and Cluely lists an x64 (64-bit) processor. If you have a Snapdragon laptop, test the free plan with a real call before you pay, or use a browser-based tool.
Is it safe to click Run anyway on a SmartScreen warning?
Only for a file you downloaded yourself from the vendor's official site. SmartScreen warns when a file or its signing certificate has no established reputation, which is common for newer apps. Check the file name and publisher, and delete any installer that reached you through an email, ad or mirror site.
Why do captions show only my voice on Windows?
Usually because the call is playing on a different output device from the one the app captures. Set the same headset as the Windows default output and as the meeting app's speaker, connect it before you open the apps, then restart the assistant.
Can I use an AI interview app on my PC during a real interview?
Only where the employer allows it. Follow the rules of the employer or platform you're interviewing with — many people use it only to practice, which works on the free plan. Never use one during an online assessment or a coding test.
