AI interview assistant privacy comes down to three answers in each vendor's policy: whether your interview audio and transcripts are kept, whether your content is used to train AI models, and which other companies process it. As of October 2026, of the 10 privacy policies we read, Hedy and Cluely say they don't train on your conversations or data, Final Round AI says it may use selected customer data for AI training, Yoodli lets you opt out of data use for its AI coach, and the other six, ours included, don't address training directly.
We read each policy in full between October 20 and 22, 2026 and paraphrase it below, quoting a few words where the exact wording matters. "Not stated" means the policy is silent on that point; it doesn't tell you what the vendor actually does. We make CoPilot Interview, and our rows come from our own privacy policy. This comparison is part of our 2026 report on the interview-assistant category.
Audio, AI training and deletion: what each policy says
Disclosure: we make CoPilot Interview. Policy dates are the "last updated" or "effective" date printed on each policy.
| Tool | Policy date | Interview audio and transcripts | Training on your content | Deletion |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| CoPilot Interview (ours) | Updated October 18, 2026 | Audio goes in short encrypted segments to a speech-to-text model and is discarded after transcription; interview audio, transcripts and answers aren't stored on its servers; session files stay in your Documents folder | Not addressed in those words. Anonymous session statistics (never answers, transcripts or audio) are on by default except in the EEA, UK and Switzerland, with an off switch | Email support to access, correct or delete account data; you delete local session files yourself |
| Hedy | Updated October 15, 2026 | Captured and transcribed on your device by default; stored on its servers only if you turn on Cloud Sync, with "no automatic deletion schedule" | Conversations "are not used to train or improve AI models" | Delete single sessions or your whole account at any time |

Who processes your data, where, and what happens to your résumé?
Most assistants pass your audio to a speech-to-text provider and your question to a language model, so the companies behind those hops matter as much as the vendor. Our explainer on how real-time transcription works shows where each hop happens.
| Tool | Named processors and AI providers | Where data is stored | Résumés and uploads |
|---|---|---|---|
| CoPilot Interview | Names its AI providers, OpenAI, Anthropic and Google among them, plus Stripe for payments and Supabase for accounts | The US or other countries where it or its vendors operate | Used by Mock Interview and the Resume Builder; never included in anonymous statistics |
| Hedy | Google Cloud for EU data, with replicas in Belgium and the Netherlands; others on a separate subprocessor list | EU accounts in Europe; all other accounts in the US | Not stated |
| Cluely | Stripe; AI and transcription providers not named | US-based; may be processed in any country where it or its providers operate | Not stated beyond general uploaded data |
| Final Round AI | Not named; described as "AI infrastructure and model providers" | Not stated | Collects résumés; training data "may include resumes and other uploaded materials" |
| LockedIn AI | AssemblyAI, Microsoft Azure OpenAI, ElevenLabs, Pinecone, Google Analytics, Stripe and GitHub | Not stated | Extracts text and builds vector embeddings; both deleted with your account |
| Parakeet AI | OpenAI, Google, Anthropic, AWS, Cerebras, Speechmatics and Pinecone, plus UploadThing, Stripe and Postmark | Not stated | Files stored with UploadThing; content sent to Google, OpenAI and AWS models; photos kept until you delete the résumé or account |
| Interviews Chat | Categories only, such as AI model providers and cloud hosting | The US and other countries | Used to personalize AI responses; you can delete it at any time |
| Interview Coder | Stripe and PostHog; transcription and hosting providers by category only | Any country where it has facilities | Not stated |
| Yoodli | Categories only | Your country or elsewhere | Not stated |
| Verve AI | Not named ("trusted third-party service providers") | Not stated | Not stated |
What stands out across the 10 policies
- Training is the biggest gap. Only three policies answer it plainly: Hedy and Cluely say no, Final Round AI says it may. Yoodli offers an opt-out. Six say nothing direct, so ask in writing before you upload anything sensitive.
- Few name their providers. CoPilot Interview, LockedIn AI and Parakeet AI name the AI and speech companies in the policy itself, and Hedy links a subprocessor list. The rest describe categories, which means you can't check the downstream companies' own terms.
- Audio is handled very differently. Hedy transcribes on your device by default; Interviews Chat and CoPilot Interview say they don't keep interview audio. Final Round AI, Cluely and Interview Coder describe collecting recordings without a specific retention period.
- Policy dates span more than two years. Five policies were updated between mid-September and October 2026, while Verve AI's dates from June 2024 and doesn't mention audio at all.
Best choice: CoPilot Interview. The free plan needs no account, interview audio isn't kept on its servers, session files stay on your computer, and the policy names its AI providers. The honest gaps: the policy doesn't use the word "training"; anonymous session statistics are on by default outside the EEA, UK and Switzerland (switch them off under any report or in Settings); and its servers keep limited records that exclude interview content, such as request metadata, minutes used and, for paid licenses, the IP addresses a key connects from. Hedy's on-device default goes further for audio. Disclosure: we make CoPilot Interview.
How do you read an AI interview assistant privacy policy in 5 minutes?
You don't need to read every clause. Open the policy, use your browser's find command, and work through this list:
- Check the date. A policy older than the product's current features may not cover them.
- Search "retain" and "delete". Look for a period for audio and transcripts, not just "as long as necessary".
- Search "train". You want a direct yes or no, and an opt-out if the answer is yes.
- Search "third part", "processor" and "provider". Named companies beat categories.
- Search "audio", "record" and "resume". These tell you what the tool collects from your call and your uploads.
- Look for a switch. Optional telemetry should come with a toggle, and the policy should say what it excludes.
- Email one question if anything is unclear. A clear written answer is worth keeping with your receipt.
Our privacy checklist for AI interview tools turns these into the full set of questions to ask any vendor.
What should you keep out of any interview tool?
- Confidential work material. Don't paste your current employer's code, documents or customer data into any AI tool.
- Other people's voices without the right consent. Recording or transcribing a conversation may require the other participants' consent depending on where you live, and some places require everyone's consent. This is general information, not legal advice.
- Old sessions. Delete transcripts and session files when your search ends. Local files are under your control, but anyone with access to your computer can read them.
- More providers than you need. If a tool lets you choose the AI model, your choice decides which company sees your question. Two models side by side can mean two providers.
Practice with less data at stake
Practice sessions expose less than live ones: in a mock interview the only voice is yours, and you choose what context to add. Start with the browser AI mock interview, which needs nothing installed, then move to Mock Interview in a desktop AI interview assistant that keeps session files on your own computer, where each spoken answer is scored out of 10 with what to fix and a model answer. If you use any assistant during a real interview, follow the rules of the employer or platform you're interviewing with — many people use it only to practice, which works on the free plan.
Privacy is one part of choosing; the other two we compared are refund terms across 12 tools and public ratings across 10 tools.
Keep your session files on your own computer
CoPilot Interview's free plan needs no account and no card: 15 minutes every day, all four modes, with interview audio not stored on our servers.

Which AI interview assistant is best for privacy?
It depends on what you value most. As of October 2026, Hedy transcribes on your device by default and says conversations are not used for training. CoPilot Interview says it does not store interview audio, transcripts or answers on its servers, keeps session files on your computer and names its AI providers. We make CoPilot Interview, so weigh our view accordingly.
Do AI interview tools train AI models on my interviews?
Some may. Final Round AI's policy says it may use selected customer data for AI training, while Hedy and Cluely say they do not train on your data. LockedIn AI, Parakeet AI, Verve AI, Interview Coder and Interviews Chat do not say either way, so ask them in writing.
Do these tools record my interviewer?
A live assistant processes the call audio it captures, which includes the interviewer's voice. Whether that audio is stored depends on the vendor: Interviews Chat and CoPilot Interview say they do not keep it, while Final Round AI and Cluely describe collecting recordings. Recording someone may require their consent where you live.
How do I delete my data from an AI interview tool?
Most vendors offer an in-app delete or an email route. Hedy and LockedIn AI let you delete your whole account in the app, Final Round AI, Verve AI and Yoodli ask you to contact them, and with CoPilot Interview you delete local session files yourself and email support about account data.
Does CoPilot Interview store my interview audio?
No. Audio is streamed in short encrypted segments to a speech-to-text model and the question text goes to the AI model you chose; nothing is kept on our servers beyond the request, and session files stay in your Documents folder. Our servers keep limited records that exclude interview content, such as minutes used.
What does "not stated" mean in this comparison?
It means the vendor's privacy policy does not address that point. It does not tell you whether the vendor does or does not do it, so ask the vendor and keep the written answer.
