Before you start an AI interview assistant free trial, spend two minutes on six checks: whether a credit card is required up front, whether the trial turns into a paid plan on its own, how long one session can run, whether the free tier includes live help or only prep, whether credits expire, and what the refund window and real monthly price are. Those details decide whether "free" means a working tool, a short demo or a subscription you have to remember to cancel.
The word covers very different offers. As of October 2026, one tool gives you 15 free minutes every day, another a single 10-minute session, and another's free plan covers preparation only. None of these is wrong, but they suit different people.
Below, each check comes with why it matters and how to verify it, then a table of ten tools' free offers. We make CoPilot Interview, so competitor details come only from each vendor's own site.
1. Is a credit card required up front?
Why it matters. A card on file is what lets a free trial become a charge. Without one, the worst case is that your free allowance runs out; with one, it's a renewal you forgot about.
How to check in two minutes.
- Search the pricing page and FAQ for "credit card" and "no card".
- Start the sign-up in a private browser window and stop at the first payment screen. If it appears before you can use the product, the free offer is attached to a subscription.
- If you do enter a card, note the date and amount of the first charge.
As of October 2026, CoPilot Interview, LockedIn AI and Interviews Chat each say their free offer needs no card, and LeetCode Wizard's trial is card-free too, though it only accepts LeetCode.com problems as input.
2. Does the trial turn into a paid plan on its own?
Why it matters. A free plan lets you keep using the product at $0, within limits, for as long as you like. A trial ends after a set number of days or minutes, and with a card attached it can roll straight into a paid subscription unless you cancel first. Interview schedules slip, so a trial can run out before a rescheduled call.
How to check in two minutes.
- Look for "trial", "renews", "billed on" or "after X days" at checkout. That line tells you when the first charge happens.
- Find out how you cancel. A button in your account settings is quicker than emailing support.
- Set a calendar reminder two days before any trial ends.
Not every vendor runs a trial. Final Round AI's pricing page says it has no free trial: its free plan covers preparation, and live sessions need Pro. LinkJob AI goes the other way, with trial minutes on download instead of a permanent free tier. Both are legitimate; just know which you're getting. Our buyer's checklist for choosing an AI interview copilot covers the other questions worth asking.
3. How long can one session run?
Why it matters. A typical interview round runs 45 to 60 minutes. A 10-minute session or a 2-minute test shows you the interface, not a full mock interview. The shape of the limit matters too: a per-session cap, a monthly session count, one-time credits or a daily allowance.
How to check in two minutes. Find the free plan's limits on the pricing page and convert them into minutes per month. As of October 2026, Verve AI's 3 sessions of 15 minutes come to 45 minutes a month, while CoPilot Interview's 15 minutes a day add up to about 7.5 hours a month; the table below has the rest.
Every published free limit in this guide, ours included, falls well short of a full round, so rehearse in segments: one behavioral answer or coding problem at a time.
4. Does the free tier include live help, or only prep?
Why it matters. Prep tools are useful on their own, but if you're deciding whether to pay for a real-time interview assistant, the part to test is the live one. Does it pick up the interviewer's audio from your meeting app? How fast does an answer appear, and is it specific to the question? A prep-only plan can't show you that before you pay.
How to check in two minutes.
- Read the free plan's feature list for "live", "copilot sessions" or "real-time". If those appear only under paid plans, the free tier is prep only.
- Check whether the free tier includes AI answers at all. A free download with every AI feature behind a paywall lets you see the app, not test it.
As of October 2026, Final Round AI's free plan covers prep, Interview Coder is a free download whose AI features need a subscription, and CoPilot Interview, Verve AI and Sensei AI include live help on their free plans. Our CoPilot Interview vs Final Round AI comparison also notes where Final Round AI's paid suite is deeper.
One rule applies whichever assistant you pick. Follow the rules of the employer or assessment you're in — many people use it only to practice, which works on the free plan.
5. Do the credits or minutes expire?
Why it matters. Job searches are bursty: four interviews in two weeks, then nothing for a month. Credits that lapse at the end of a billing period, or a trial that ends on a fixed date, can cost you minutes before you need them.
How to check in two minutes.
- Search the pricing page, FAQ and terms for "expire", "valid for" and "roll over".
- For a trial measured in days, find out whether the clock starts at sign-up or at your first session.
LockedIn AI says its credits never expire, and CoPilot Interview's one-time hour packs ($5.99 for 1 hour, $19.99 for 5, $34.99 for 15) never expire either. CoPilot Interview's free plan works differently again: a fresh 15 minutes each day rather than a balance to spend down.
6. What are the refund window and the real monthly price?
Why it matters. The monthly price in large type is sometimes the annual price divided by 12 and charged up front. Refund policies also differ: the window may be short, may cover only your first payment and not renewals, and may close once you've used the product for a set time.
How to check in two minutes.
- Toggle the pricing page between monthly and annual and read the small print. "Billed annually" means you pay for the year on day one.
- Multiply the month-to-month price by the months you realistically expect to search, then compare that with the annual total.
- Open the refund policy and note the number of days, whether renewals are covered and any usage limit.
The gap is wide in this category: compare the monthly and annual figures in the table below, and note that Final Round AI advertises savings of up to 40% on longer billing periods. An annual plan can be good value for a search that runs many months; for one measured in weeks, a monthly plan you cancel on time, or a few one-time hours, usually costs less. Our guide on whether an AI interview assistant is worth it walks through the cost side.

Verve AI now shows prices inside its app, so its figure comes from an earlier check. As of October 2026, Natively AI is free for personal use under a source-available license (it also sells a Pro edition), but you supply your own API key and pay that provider, or run local models. CoPilot Interview's free plan and refund policy
Here's our own offer against the same six checks.
- Card up front: none. The Free plan is $0 forever, with no credit card and no signup. Download, unzip and run the app on Windows 10 or later, or macOS 12 or later.
- Trial conversion: there's no trial to convert. The Free plan doesn't expire, and nothing moves you to a paid plan unless you choose one.
- Session length: 15 free minutes every day, in sessions of up to 15 minutes. That's the real limit: a full-length round needs a paid plan. Standard allows 60-minute sessions, two hours apart; Pro and Pro+ allow 70 minutes with no gap.
- Live help vs prep: all four modes are included (Candidate Mode for live help, Mock Interview, Interviewer Mode and the Resume Builder) with the fast free AI models. Live answers arrive in about 2 seconds.
- Expiry: a fresh 15 minutes each day, and one-time hour packs never expire.
- Refunds and annual pricing: a 14-day money-back guarantee covers the first payment of a new subscription, as long as you've used less than 30 minutes of live session time since that payment. Renewals aren't covered; cancel anytime from your account page and you keep access until the end of the paid period. Annual plans (Standard $99.99/yr, Pro $199.99/yr, Pro+ $249.99/yr) save up to 58%.
The 30-minute condition is deliberate: enough for a full mock run and to confirm your microphone, meeting audio and AI answers work, but less than a real interview. Setup, the audio check and the Resume Builder don't count, and your account dashboard shows your live session time. Full terms are in our refund policy.
The simplest way to cover all six checks is to test on the Free plan before you pay anything. Our free AI interview assistant page explains each mode, and the pricing page lists every plan.

Is there a free AI interview assistant with no credit card?
Yes. As of October 2026, CoPilot Interview gives 15 free minutes every day with no card and no signup, LockedIn AI has a free credit-based plan with no card, and Interviews Chat gives 30 free credits with no card.
Is Final Round AI free?
Partly. As of October 2026, its free plan covers preparation: goals, résumé materials, job-description parsing, a prep checklist and its desktop app. Its pricing page says there is no free trial, and live sessions need Pro, which starts at $25/mo.
What is the difference between a free plan and a free trial?
A free plan lets you keep using the product at $0, within limits, for as long as you like. A free trial ends after a set number of days or minutes, and if you entered a card, it can turn into a paid subscription unless you cancel.
How many free minutes do AI interview assistants give?
It varies widely. As of October 2026, CoPilot Interview gives 15 minutes a day, Verve AI 3 sessions of 15 minutes a month, Interviews Chat 30 one-minute credits, Parakeet AI one 10-minute session, and Interview Sidekick a 2-minute live test.
What is CoPilot Interview's refund policy?
A 14-day money-back guarantee on the first payment of a new subscription, as long as you have used less than 30 minutes of live session time since that payment. Renewal charges are not covered, and you can cancel anytime from your account page.
Can I use a free AI interview assistant in a real interview?
Follow the rules of the employer or assessment you're in. Many people use an assistant only to practice, which works on the free plan, and a mock interview is the easiest way to judge answer quality before you pay.
