An AI interview assistant feature comparison across 12 tools shows that live answer suggestions are now standard: 10 of the 12 offer them. What separates the tools is scored practice, model choice, system design coverage, platforms and how much the free plan really includes. The two tables below put every tool side by side, with each cell taken from the vendor's own website in October 2026.
Disclosure: we make CoPilot Interview, which is listed first and marked Best choice where we think that is accurate. Read our view with that in mind, and check any feature that matters to you on the vendor's site before you pay. For ranked picks with prices, see our best AI interview assistants compared; this page is the reference matrix behind them.
How we built this matrix
We read each vendor's homepage, pricing page, help center and download page between October 14 and October 22, 2026, and also used the dated vendor checks on our own comparison pages. The rules:
- ✓ means the vendor states the feature on its own site. Short notes say how.
- ✗ means the vendor says it does not offer the feature.
- Not stated means we could not find it on the vendor's site. It may exist; the vendor just doesn't say so in a form we could check.
- Where a vendor's own pages disagree with each other, we say so in the cell.
- We did not run paid hands-on tests of every product, and we left out third-party reviews.
Google Interview Warmup is included because many people still compare against it, but Google retired it in April 2026.

What each feature does and who needs it
A feature only matters if it fits the interviews you actually have. Here is what each column means in practice.
- Mock interview. The tool plays the interviewer: it asks questions, listens to your answer and responds. You need it if you have more than a few days before the interview, because this is where answers get better. Check whether questions are read aloud and whether you answer out loud; typing answers skips the skill an interview tests.
- Live answer suggestions. The tool hears the question on a call and shows an outline or answer. Useful for recall under pressure. Follow the rules of the employer or platform you're interviewing with — many people use it only to practice, which works on the free plan.
- Résumé and job description. Context lets the tool ask the questions your interviewer is likely to ask and shape answers around your real experience. Without it, you get generic answers. Our guide to how these tools use your résumé and job description explains what the context changes.
- Coding help. Matters for software, data and machine learning roles. Look for the language you will use, a complexity explanation and an example run, so you can explain the solution rather than read it.
- System design. Few vendors name it. If you face a design round, test an open-ended question such as designing a URL shortener and see whether the answer covers requirements, components, data flow and trade-offs.
- Practice scoring. A score turns practice into a loop: answer, see what to fix, answer again. Scores differ in what they measure. Some grade content and structure; Yoodli grades delivery, such as filler words and pacing.
- Model choice. Different models trade speed for depth. A picker lets you use a fast model for short questions and a stronger one for long design or behavioral answers. Our page on comparing two AI models side by side shows how that works.
- Languages. Matters if you interview in a language other than English or with a strong accent. Vendor counts are not comparable: some count transcription languages, some count accents, and one site counts its users' languages.
- Desktop app. A native app can hear your computer's audio, so it works alongside most call apps. Check the minimum operating system version against your computer before you plan around a tool.
- Browser. A web app needs no install, which helps on a locked-down work laptop, but it usually hears only browser audio.
- Phone. Phones can't capture system audio or other apps' screens, so phone versions do less. They suit phone screens through a second device and practice away from your desk.
- Transcripts. A saved transcript lets you review what you actually said and spot weak answers. Export matters if you keep notes elsewhere.
- Free plan. The real test of a tool is a full mock interview, which takes 15 to 45 minutes. A 2-minute or 5-minute free session shows you the interface, not the quality.
Where CoPilot Interview is the best choice, and where it isn't
Best choice for most candidates: CoPilot Interview. It combines a free plan you can use every day in all four modes, mock interviews built from your résumé and the job description with each spoken answer scored out of 10, a choice of 9 AI models with Dual AI Mode, and coding and system design help. It also includes Interviewer Mode for hiring managers and a Resume Builder that tailors your résumé to a job URL. If you want to see it in use, CoPilot Interview's AI interview assistant page walks through the live and mock modes.
Its honest limits, from the same matrix:
- The full app is desktop only, for Windows 10+ and macOS 12+. There is no Linux app and no web app for live help.
- The Android companion is a beta installed outside Google Play, and the iPhone version is not out yet. Hedy and LockedIn AI have native phone apps.
- There is no human coach or human feedback.
- The free plan is 15 minutes a day. LockedIn AI allows more free minutes a day, in 5-minute sessions; Hedy allows up to 5 hours a month.
- Session files are saved to your Documents folder; Hedy offers more export formats.
- AI answers can be wrong, so practice in your own words.
CoPilot Interview is not affiliated with Microsoft Copilot or GitHub Copilot.

How can you check a feature claim yourself in 15 minutes?
Feature lists are marketing until you try them. On each tool's free plan:
- Run one mock interview with your own résumé and job description. Do the questions mention your actual role and experience?
- Answer one question badly on purpose. A useful score should drop and say what to fix.
- Ask a system design question. See whether the answer covers trade-offs or stops at a list of components.
- Switch models if the tool allows it. Compare speed and depth on the same question.
- Read the caption before the answer. If the question was misheard, the answer will be wrong too.
- Look for the transcript afterwards. Can you find, read and keep it?
- Time the free plan. Does it fit a full mock interview, or only a demo?
The fastest place to start is a free browser AI mock interview with 113 questions across 9 tracks and nothing to install. Take assessments and AI-interviewer sessions yourself, and use any of these tools to practice beforehand. The full category picture is in the state of AI interview assistants in 2026.

What features should an AI interview assistant have?
At minimum: spoken mock interviews, feedback or a score on each answer, the option to add your résumé and the job description, and a free plan long enough for a full practice round. For technical roles, add coding and system design help. Live answer suggestions are common, but use them only where the employer allows it.
Which AI interview assistants let you choose the AI model?
As of October 2026, CoPilot Interview (9 models, with Dual AI Mode), LockedIn AI, Verve AI, Parakeet AI and Interviews.chat say on their sites that you can choose the model. Final Round AI, Sensei AI, Beyz AI and Interview Sidekick don't state a model picker.
Which AI interview assistants score your practice answers?
CoPilot Interview scores each spoken answer out of 10 with what to fix and a model answer. LockedIn AI, Verve AI and Interview Sidekick also state scores, Final Round AI gives a debrief with feedback, and Yoodli scores delivery such as filler words and pacing. Google Interview Warmup did not grade answers.
Which interview AI app works on a phone?
Hedy has native iOS and Android apps, and LockedIn AI has an iOS app. Verve AI, Parakeet AI and Interview Sidekick work in a phone browser. CoPilot Interview has an Android companion in beta, outside Google Play, with an iPhone version coming.
Is there an AI interview tool for Linux?
None of the 12 tools we checked lists a native Linux app as of October 2026. Parakeet AI says Linux users can run it in desktop Chrome, and Hedy says it has no Linux app. CoPilot Interview runs on Windows 10+ and macOS 12+ only.
Is CoPilot Interview the same as Microsoft Copilot?
No. CoPilot Interview is made by NeuraSense AI LLC and is not affiliated with Microsoft, Microsoft Copilot or GitHub Copilot.
