Pramp vs interviewing.io: Free Peer Practice or Paid Expert Mocks?

Pramp sessions now run on Aced Practice. Here is how its free peer mocks compare with interviewing.io's anonymous expert sessions on price, format, feedback and fit, as of October 2026.

Pramp vs interviewing.io is a choice between free practice with peers and paid practice with experts. Pramp, whose sessions now run on Aced Practice, matches you with another candidate for a free session of about an hour in which you take turns interviewing each other, while interviewing.io books you an anonymous mock interview with a senior, staff or principal engineer, starting at $179 per session. Use Pramp for frequent, low-stakes reps and interviewing.io for a few expert sessions before an important onsite. Details are as of October 2026.

We make CoPilot Interview, a different practice tool, and cover it as a third option near the end. Pramp and Aced facts come from pramp.com and Aced's practice FAQ and pricing page; interviewing.io facts come from its homepage and FAQ. All were read on October 20, 2026.

First: what happened to Pramp

Pramp still has a homepage, but a banner on pramp.com says that as of July 2024, "all new Pramp sessions are hosted on Aced Practice." Aced is the new name of Exponent (its pages read "Aced (formerly Exponent)," run by Exponent Labs, LLC). The Aced Practice FAQ says you can schedule the same types of mock interviews you could on Pramp, but you need an Aced account, and you can link an old Pramp account to it. In this guide, "Pramp" means the peer mock interviews now on Aced Practice. For the rest of Aced's product, see our Exponent (Aced) review.

What a month of practice costs

Our arithmetic from the listed prices, before tax and before any company-specific premium on interviewing.io:

Practice plan for one monthPramp (Aced Practice)interviewing.io
4 mock interviews$0 (within Basic's 5)From $716
10 mock interviews$79 (one month of Aced Pro)From $1,790
5 peer mocks plus 2 expert sessions$0 for the 5 peer mocks (Basic)From $358 for the 2 expert sessions

The last row, from $358 in total, is the mix most candidates can afford: free volume with peers, and expert time only where it changes your preparation.

How a session works on each

A Pramp session on Aced Practice

  1. Pick a topic and a slot. Coding sessions start every two hours from 8 AM to midnight in your local time; product, system design and behavioral sessions start at 2 AM, 8 AM, 12 PM and 6 PM Pacific Time.
  2. Get matched. Aced pairs you based on your schedule, current role, experience level and interviewing history.
  3. Interview each other. Roles are assigned at random and you switch halfway, about 30 minutes each, over a video call that stays open for up to two hours.
  4. Code together where it applies. Coding sessions support Python, JavaScript, Java, Go, C++, C, C#, Ruby and Swift; SQL sessions use PostgreSQL or SQLite; frontend sessions use JavaScript.
  5. Trade feedback. You and your partner rate each other on rubrics after the session; paid members also get an AI transcript and grade.

An interviewing.io session

  1. Choose the subject, and an interviewer from a specific company if you want one.
  2. Meet anonymously. Your interviewer has none of your details, and the interviewing.io homepage describes the session as audio and chat with no video.
  3. Solve the problem out loud. The FAQ says questions are similar to real backend or full-stack interviews at top companies.
  4. Get an in-depth rundown of what you did well and how to improve.
  5. Unmask and connect with your interviewer afterward, or stay anonymous.

The vetting is the point of paying. Per its FAQ, every interviewer has worked at a FAANG or FAANG-adjacent company, has at least 4 years of experience and at least 20 interviews conducted for that company, and passed screening plus 2 trial interviews.

Who each one fits

Pramp (Aced Practice) fits you if you need volume, you're on a budget, you want practice on camera, or you want to sit in the interviewer's chair, which teaches you quickly what a clear answer sounds like. It fits less well if you need expert judgment: your partner is another candidate, so the feedback is only as good as the person you're matched with. It also needs a desktop.

interviewing.io fits you if you're an experienced engineer with a big-tech loop coming up, you're preparing for system design, staff-level or manager rounds where peer feedback is weakest, or you freeze in front of strangers and want the stakes lowered by anonymity. It fits less well if you need daily practice, if you want feedback on how you come across on camera, or if you're not interviewing for an engineering role.

A sensible order: two or three weeks of free peer mocks, one paid interviewing.io session about two weeks before your onsite, then more peer mocks focused on whatever that session exposed. Our system design mock interview script helps you run a useful peer session on design rounds.

A third option: CoPilot Interview for solo reps

Peer sessions need a partner and a time slot, and expert sessions cost money each time. For practice on your own schedule, CoPilot Interview is a desktop app for Windows 10+ and macOS 12+ whose Mock Interview mode builds an interview from your résumé and a job description. You choose the level, 3, 5 or 8 questions, the mix of behavioral, technical, system design and coding questions, and your coding language. It reads each question aloud, scores your spoken answer out of 10 with what to fix and a model answer, and ends with a report card. The browser AI mock interview offers 113 real questions across 9 tracks with nothing to install.

FAQ

Is Pramp still free?

Yes. As of October 2026, Pramp sessions run on Aced Practice, which says its mock interview tool is free with monthly credits. Aced's Basic plan lists 5 peer mocks a month, and paid plans from $79 a month (or $12 a month billed annually) make them unlimited.

What happened to Pramp?

Pramp.com says that as of July 2024 all new Pramp sessions are hosted on Aced Practice. Aced is the new name of Exponent. You need an Aced account, and you can link an old Pramp account to it.

How much does interviewing.io cost?

As of October 2026, interviewing.io's FAQ says human mock interviews start at $179, with the price varying by subject and whether you want an interviewer from a specific company. Its AI Interviewer for coding and system design is free, and it offers a full refund if you're unhappy with an interview.

Is interviewing.io better than Pramp?

For expert feedback, yes: its interviewers are vetted senior engineers who have run real interviews. For volume, Pramp on Aced Practice is better because it is free. Most candidates do several free peer mocks first and book one or two interviewing.io sessions before an onsite.

Are Pramp and interviewing.io anonymous?

interviewing.io is fully anonymous and has no video; you can unmask afterward if you choose. On Aced Practice only your public display name is shared with your partner, and video is recommended but audio only is allowed.

Can I practice system design on Pramp and interviewing.io?

Yes. Aced Practice runs system design peer sessions four times a day, Pacific Time. interviewing.io offers system design mocks with senior engineers and includes system design in its free AI Interviewer.

Is there a way to practice alone, without booking a session?

Yes. CoPilot Interview, which we make, runs spoken mock interviews built from your résumé and a job description and scores each answer out of 10. Its free plan includes 15 minutes every day with no card or signup.
