A myInterview video interview is a one-way interview: you open the employer's link, see the questions one at a time, and record your answers on camera before the deadline, and the hiring team reviews them later. According to its candidate help center, as of October 2026, an interview has no more than 10 questions, most companies ask 5 to 10 and allow about 1 to 3 minutes per answer, and the whole thing takes about 15 minutes on average. myInterview is now part of Radancy, which announced the acquisition on September 9, 2025, so your emails and support pages may show the Radancy name.
Record your answers yourself and follow the employer's rules — use CoPilot Interview to practice beforehand. This guide explains the open and closed question formats, retakes, how answers are scored, and how to rehearse.
What is myInterview?
myInterview is video interviewing and screening software that employers use to replace first-round phone screens. Radancy, a talent acquisition software company, announced that it acquired myInterview in September 2025, and the myinterview.com website now redirects to Radancy's Screening & Scheduling product. The candidate help center now lives on a Radancy domain, and its articles still describe the same one-way video format.
The employer writes the questions and sets the rules. Radancy's support team can help with technical problems, but questions about deadlines, results or next steps go to the hiring company.
How does a myInterview video interview work?
From the candidate help center and the employer guide to how candidates submit a video interview:
- Open the link in Chrome or Firefox, which the help center recommends. You see the job title and description first.
- Enter your details. You give your first name, last name and email, and you may be asked to upload a CV or answer a few questions about your skills and experience. Some employers add a short company video.
- Click Start Interview. A pop-up lets you test your camera and microphone and, if the employer enabled it, practice first. The practice round uses 2 generic questions, and those recordings are not sent to the company.
- Answer each question. A three-second countdown starts each recording, and the time limit shows in the corner. You can stop early when you're done.
- Retake if allowed. If retakes are enabled, you can watch your recordings, see how many attempts remain, and choose which version to submit.
- Finish. Click Finish and wait for the upload; a confirmation message appears and you should receive a confirmation email.
Open and closed questions
This is the setting that changes your preparation most. With an open question, you see the question and start recording when you're ready. With a closed question, you get a limited time to read it, usually 30 seconds, and then recording starts automatically. The help center's setup article describes both, and the employer chooses which you get.
myInterview video interview settings at a glance
The employer guide for myInterview's asynchronous video interview mode lists these ranges, as of October 2026. Your interview screen shows the values the employer chose.
| Setting | Range the employer can choose | What it means for you |
|---|---|---|
| Number of questions | Up to 10 | The total and an estimated time appear when you start |
| Thinking time | Unlimited, or up to 4 minutes | Closed questions start recording automatically, often after 30 seconds |
| Recording time | 30 seconds to 10 minutes per answer | Most employers give about 1 to 3 minutes |
| Takes | 1 to 5 | If you see no retake button, you've used your attempts or retakes are off |
| Answer type | Video, written, single choice or multiple choice | Written answers can have a character or time limit |
| Deadline | Set by the employer | It's in your invitation; after it, the link expires |
| Navigation | Fixed | One question at a time; no skipping and no going back at the end |
| Equipment | Your choice | A working webcam and microphone; a phone or tablet works if your laptop has no camera |
The ranges come from the employer article on setting up interview questions, and the typical lengths from the candidate article How long is my interview going to be?. If you see a "No Audio Detected" message while recording, speak louder or check your microphone; the system samples your audio to confirm it can hear you.
Is a myInterview video interview scored by AI?
It depends on the employer's plan. In the employer setup guide, an optional Smart Shortlisting feature lets the employer pick and rank keywords and qualities, and the AI highlights personality and behavioral indicators from your responses. Employers with an AI qualification scorecard can list must-have, important and nice-to-have qualifications, and the AI scores candidates against them. Radancy's product page adds that AI can transcribe your video and factor the response into your screening score.
Radancy's acquisition announcement says hiring decisions remain human-driven, and the candidate help center says the hiring team reviews your recorded responses. In practice, that means two audiences: a person watching, and a transcript being read. Both reward the same thing: answers that name the skill the job asks for, give one concrete example, and end with a result.
How to prepare for a myInterview video interview
The help center's tips are practical: dress professionally, use a tidy and well-lit room, look at the webcam, speak at a steady pace, turn off your phone and notifications, charge your device, check your camera and microphone, and use Chrome or Firefox. Its best-practices article adds framing advice: center your face with your eyes roughly in the upper third of the frame, and put the camera at eye level. Then build your answers:
- Use the job description. Circle the skills it repeats and prepare a 60-to-90-second story for each with the free STAR story builder. Those are the words a reviewer or a scorecard is looking for.
- Plan for closed questions. Practice reading a question and starting your answer within 30 seconds, with your first sentence being the answer itself.
- Fit 1 to 3 minutes. Rehearse to about 90 seconds so you have room to finish cleanly.
- Prepare the openers. An introduction and "why this job" come up often; see our guides to tell me about yourself and why you want to work here.
- Get scored before the real thing. CoPilot Interview's desktop Mock Interview builds questions from your résumé and the job description, reads them aloud, scores each spoken answer out of 10 with what worked, what to fix and a model answer, and finishes with a report card. The browser AI mock interview has 113 real questions across 9 tracks with nothing to install.
A three-day practice plan
| Day | What to do | Result |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Mark the skills in the job post; write an introduction and one story per skill | Five to seven prepared answers |
| 2 | Do a scored mock interview, then record three answers with a 30-second read time and a 2-minute limit | Scores and a short list of fixes |
| 3 | Open the link in Chrome or Firefox, use the practice questions, then complete the interview in one sitting | A submitted interview and a confirmation email |
An example answer we wrote
Question: "What is your greatest strength for this role?" A 50-second answer: "Staying organized when things get busy. In my current job at a pharmacy, I handle the phone queue and the pickup counter at the same time. I started a simple callback list so no caller waits more than ten minutes for an answer, and missed callbacks dropped to almost none within a month. In a high-volume role like this one, that habit keeps customers from falling through the cracks." More on this question in our guide to the weakness question, its usual partner.
Common mistakes in a myInterview video interview
- Clicking Next too fast. You can review each answer right after recording, but you can't go back at the end.
- Not knowing the question type. A closed question starts recording on its own; be ready before the reading time ends.
- Assuming retakes. Some employers allow up to five, others none.
- Leaving it to the last hour. After the deadline, the link expires and only the employer can help.
- Skipping the practice round. It is free, private and the easiest way to catch a bad microphone.
- Reading from notes. Glance-down reading shows on camera. Keep three keywords per answer at most.
