Monica can run an AI mock interview, but only as one scenario inside a general-purpose AI assistant. Its Live Voice feature can act as a spoken interviewer, and you can role-play interviews in chat with any of its models. As of October 2026 Monica costs $0 to $99.9 a month. It doesn't publish any interview-specific scoring, question bank or report card, so treat it as a flexible practice partner, not an interview coach.
We make CoPilot Interview, which includes a scored Mock Interview mode, so weigh our view accordingly. Every Monica fact below comes from Monica's own site, help center and app listings, checked October 2026.
Monica AI mock interview review: the short verdict
If you already pay for Monica for writing, research or summaries, its Live Voice mode is a reasonable way to get spoken interview reps without another subscription. If you're choosing a tool only for interview prep, Monica is a weak fit: interview practice is a small corner of a very broad product, the voice feature draws on credits, and you have to supply the structure (questions, rubric, timing) yourself.
Its strengths are real, though: one account covers a browser extension, a web app, Windows and Mac desktop apps and iOS and Android apps; it gives you models from OpenAI, Anthropic and Google in one place; and the free plan is enough to try text-based role-play.
What is Monica?
Monica is an all-in-one AI assistant made by Butterfly Effect Pte. Ltd., the company that also makes Manus. It covers chat, writing, translation, PDF chat, image and video generation, and AI agent tools such as deep research and slide creation. As of October 2026 its site lists a browser extension for Chrome and Edge, desktop apps for Windows and Mac, and mobile apps for Android and iOS.
One thing to know before you build a habit around it: Monica's help center describes a 2026 service transition in which data generated by certain users in some regions since December 29, 2025 was deleted between August 23 and 25, 2026, with backups offered beforehand. The help center states that Monica is not shutting down; the service was scheduled to reopen on August 25, 2026, and it was running when we checked in October 2026. If you keep interview notes in any AI tool, keep your own copy too.
How Monica works as a mock interviewer
Live Voice: the spoken mock interview
Monica's version 6.5.1 changelog introduced Live Voice calls and says Monica can act as a language tutor, an interviewer or a confidant, in the desktop and mobile apps. In the app, Live Voice offers preset conversation scenarios, and one of them is labeled Mock Interview ("Your personal interview prep coach"). You talk, it answers aloud, and you can interrupt it, much like a phone call.
What Monica doesn't publish is how that scenario works: how it picks questions, whether it uses your résumé or the job description, whether it scores answers, or how long a session can run. Expect a conversational interviewer, then test it with a few questions you know well before relying on it.
Chat role-play with any model
In text chat, you can paste your résumé and the job description, tell the model to act as an interviewer, ask one question at a time and score you against a rubric. That works in Monica the same way it works in any chat assistant, and our ChatGPT mock interview prompts carry over directly. Monica's advantage is that you can switch models mid-practice or compare answers side by side.
Résumé and job-search tools
Monica's job-search page lists help with résumés and cover letters, AI-powered mock interviews, LinkedIn outreach messages and "real-time interview guidance", without detailing how the last one works. Separately, a free AI Resume Checker reviews an uploaded PDF résumé for content, structure and style.
Monica pricing (October 2026)
These plans come from the Monica pricing page, checked October 2026:
| Plan | Billed monthly | Billed annually | Usage (as of October 2026) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | $0 | 40 basic-model uses a day; limited trials of image, PDF and agent features |
| Pro | $9.9/mo | $99/yr ($8.3/mo) | 5,000 basic and 200 advanced model queries a month; 1,500 advanced credits |
| Max | $24.9/mo | $199/yr on sale, regularly $299 ($16.6/mo) | Sold as unlimited basic and advanced models; 4,500 advanced credits |
| Ultra | $99.9/mo | $995/yr ($82.9/mo) | Sold as unlimited basic and advanced models; 20,000 advanced credits |
Three details matter for interview practice:
- Voice uses credits. Monica's advanced credit rules say Live Voice consumes advanced credits only when its advanced mode is on: 40 credits per 1,000 tokens of voice input and 80 per 1,000 tokens of voice output. Advanced credits come only with a subscription; extra credits cost $10 for 4,000. The same page says usage depends on language, speech rate and whether you pick a scenario.
- "Unlimited" has a ceiling. The same help page says Max and Ultra include 1,600 advanced and 12,000 basic queries a month, after which queries slow to 100 a day. The pricing page also notes Max is still in beta.
- No refunds by default. Monica's terms of use (last updated December 1, 2025) say subscription and credit payments are final and non-refundable except where the law requires; partial refunds are at the company's discretion. Cancel the renewal from your profile page to stop the next charge.
Where Monica falls short for interview prep
- You supply the structure. A general assistant doesn't know what a good behavioral answer looks like unless you tell it. Without a rubric, feedback tends to be generic praise.
- No published scoring or report. Monica doesn't document a per-answer score, a model answer or an end-of-session report for its Mock Interview scenario.
- It can't keep time. Chatbots don't track how long you spoke. Run your own timer; most answers should land under two minutes.
- Drift. Long voice sessions wander. Restart with a fresh prompt for each round type: behavioral, technical, then questions for them.
- Credit math. Voice input costs 20 times as many credits as text input (40 versus 2 per 1,000 tokens), and the total depends on how much you and the model talk.
Who Monica fits, and who it doesn't
Good fit
- You already use Monica daily and want occasional spoken interview reps from the same account.
- You want to compare answers from several AI models while drafting stories.
- You also want spoken English practice; Live Voice has an English Tutor scenario next to Mock Interview.
Poor fit
- You want questions built from your résumé and the target job, with each answer scored and a report at the end.
- You want predictable costs for voice practice without tracking credits.
- You need technical practice with a structured coding or system design flow.
