JobLander Is Closing: What to Use Instead for Interview Practice and Live Help

If you used JobLander, three dates matter: signups and purchases stopped on October 11, 2026; free minutes and the Practice feature were available until the end of October 18, 2026; and minutes bought after September 11, 2026 keep working in the installed extension until December 31, 2026. The company says it is closing.

If you used JobLander, three dates matter: signups and purchases stopped on October 11, 2026; free minutes and the Practice feature were available until the end of October 18, 2026; and minutes bought after September 11, 2026 keep working in the installed extension until December 31, 2026. The company says it is closing. JobLander was a Chrome extension that gave real-time hints in Google Meet, Zoom and Microsoft Teams, with a practice feature, and it launched as a free beta on January 7, 2026.

This page is a JobLander alternative guide: what to do before the extension stops, what to look for in a replacement, and how our free plan compares, with the differences stated plainly.

What JobLander did, and the closing timeline

Shipping a live interview tool is hard, and closing one with clear dates and a working wind-down is the respectful way to do it. We have no inside knowledge of why JobLander is closing and will not speculate. The public timeline, as stated by the company on October 26, 2026:

DateWhat happened or happens
January 7, 2026Launched as a free beta
September 11, 2026Minutes bought after this date keep working until the shutdown
October 11, 2026Signups and purchases stopped
October 18, 2026Last day for free minutes and Practice
December 31, 2026Purchased minutes stop working in the installed extension

What to do before December 31

  1. Count your minutes. If you bought minutes after September 11, note how many remain and plan which interviews to spend them on.
  2. Save anything you want to keep. If the extension shows past practice sessions or notes, copy what you value into a document now rather than on December 30.
  3. Test a replacement on a mock call with a friend, so your first real use is not an interview that matters.
  4. Remove the extension when you are done. Software from a closed company stops getting updates, and anything with microphone or tab-audio access deserves removal once unused.

What to look for in a JobLander alternative

JobLander was a Chrome extension, so the first decision is whether you want another extension or a desktop app. An extension hears only the browser tab, which is fine for Google Meet and fails for the Zoom and Teams desktop apps; a desktop app listens to the computer's audio output and works with any meeting app, but you install it. Beyond that:

How CoPilot Interview's free plan compares

CoPilot Interview is a desktop app for Windows 10 and 11 and macOS 12 and later, not an extension. The free plan is $0 forever with no credit card. It includes 15 minutes of live help every day in sessions of up to 15 minutes, free AI models with Mercury 2.5 as the default, and AI mock interviews: paste the job description and your resume, and an AI interviewer asks questions built from them and scores each spoken answer out of 10.

The differences from JobLander are real. You install an app rather than adding an extension, and there is no Chromebook or Linux version, though the browser demo at /try runs practice questions with no signup. In exchange you get the Zoom and Teams desktop apps, Webex and Chime, and the app never appears in the call.

Other options, and one that is not an option

Google Interview Warmup is still recommended on many pages, but Google retired it in April 2026, so it cannot replace JobLander's practice feature; see alternatives to Google Interview Warmup. Among tools that still exist, as of October 25, 2026 MeetAssist offered a Chrome extension plus a desktop app with 20 free minutes, and Acedly AI a Chrome extension with 15 free minutes; as of October 26, 2026 ExtraBrain was a free desktop copilot for Mac and Windows. Our fuller comparison is at CoPilot Interview alternatives.

Whatever you pick, read the interview invite and follow your employer's rules: some companies allow AI tools in interviews, others forbid them. Practice is always allowed.

Where CoPilot Interview fits

For a JobLander user, CoPilot Interview is an AI interview assistant that trades the convenience of an extension for coverage of every meeting app, and it keeps practice first. If you only ever interview in Google Meet in a browser, an extension from another vendor may fit you better, and we would rather say so. A closing product also attracts copies, so check downloads against how to spot fake AI interview assistant apps.

Disclosure: CoPilot Interview is our product, so weigh what we say about it accordingly.

Frequently asked questions

When does JobLander stop working?

According to the company, free minutes and Practice were available until the end of October 18, 2026, and minutes bought after September 11, 2026 keep working in the installed extension until December 31, 2026. Signups and purchases stopped on October 11, 2026, so no new minutes can be bought.

Is there a free JobLander alternative?

Yes. CoPilot Interview's free plan is $0 with no credit card and includes 15 minutes of live help a day plus AI mock interviews. As of October 25 and 26, 2026, MeetAssist (20 free minutes), Acedly AI (15 free minutes) and ExtraBrain (free desktop copilot) also had free tiers.

Will a Chrome extension replacement work with the Zoom desktop app?

No. A Chrome extension can hear only a browser tab, so it works when the meeting runs in the browser and not when it runs in the Zoom or Teams desktop apps. A desktop tool that listens to the computer's audio output covers both, at the cost of an install.

Do I need an account to try CoPilot Interview?

No. The free plan works without a credit card, and an account is needed only for paid plans so your plan follows you across devices. Sign-in, when you do need it, is an email link with no password. The browser demo at /try needs no signup at all.

Replace the practice feature first

AI mock interviews are included on the free plan, with no credit card.
