How a Free AI Interview Assistant's Daily Allowance Works (15 Minutes a Day)

CoPilot Interview's free plan gives you 15 minutes of live help every day, in sessions of up to 15 minutes, with free AI models and no credit card, and the allowance comes back every day for as long as you use the app. It is $0 forever, not a trial that converts.

This page explains a free AI interview assistant's 15 minutes plainly: what counts against the clock, what resets, what else is included, and how to get the most out of a quarter of an hour.

What the free 15 minutes a day includes

Our is CoPilot Interview free page covers what the free plan does not include.

What counts against the clock

The timer runs while the assistant is listening. Press Ctrl+Shift+L (Cmd on macOS) to start or resume listening, and the session clock runs from there until you stop it or the session cap is reached. A 10-minute idle pause stops listening until you press Ctrl+Shift+L again.

We will not claim more precision than that here. The practical rule: start listening when the questions start, not while you are waiting in the lobby, and stop when the call ends. On a 15-minute allowance, a few minutes of lobby time is a real cost.

What resets, and when

The allowance is per day. Each day you get a fresh 15 minutes; it is not a monthly pool you draw down and it does not require you to do anything to renew. If you use five minutes today, you still get 15 tomorrow, and you do not carry the ten unused minutes forward.

When the day's 15 minutes are used, live captions stop until the next day. Mock interviews and everything else in the app keep working. Our page on what happens when minutes run out covers the mid-call case.

Daily allowance vs one-time trial: how free tiers differ

Free tiers for interview tools come in three shapes, and the differences matter more than the headline minutes.

ShapeHow it worksWhat it covers
Daily allowanceA fixed number of minutes every day, indefinitelyThe whole search: short calls and daily practice
One-time trialOne free session or a few minutes once, then paidOne test call; nothing for the second interview
Monthly creditsA small number of sessions or responses each monthA few practice runs; often not a live call
Prep onlyStudy materials free, live help paidReading, not interviewing

A daily allowance is worth more than a one-time trial because it covers the whole search rather than the first call. Several competitors offer a single free session or a monthly credit count; we have left their prices off this page, and our free vs paid comparison goes further.

Getting the most from 15 minutes

  1. Do the long practice in mock interviews, which are included and are not what the 15-minute cap is about. Save the live minutes for the moments that need live help.
  2. Use live help for a short recruiter screen, or for the hardest 15 minutes of a longer call, such as the opening questions.
  3. Check your audio and microphone on a test call the day before, not inside the 15 minutes.
  4. Follow a routine; our daily practice plan fits inside the free allowance.
  5. If a 60-minute round is coming, that is what a one-time hour pack from $9.99 or a month of Standard at $24.99 is for.

Live help is for interviews where it is permitted, so follow your employer's rules, and if the rule is unclear, ask the recruiter before the call.

Where CoPilot Interview fits

CoPilot Interview is an AI interview assistant for Windows and macOS, with a practice-first iPhone app and an Android beta, built around a free plan that does not expire. Audio is streamed in short segments for transcription and is not stored on our servers; a text transcript is saved only in your Documents folder.

Disclosure: CoPilot Interview is our product, so weigh what we say about it accordingly.

Frequently asked questions

Is CoPilot Interview's free plan really free forever?

Yes. The free plan is $0 forever with no credit card. It includes 15 minutes of live help every day in sessions of up to 15 minutes, free AI models with Mercury 2.5 by Inception as the default, and AI mock interviews.

Do unused free minutes roll over to the next day?

No. The allowance is 15 fresh minutes every day rather than a pool that accumulates. Unused minutes are not carried forward, and you do not need to do anything for the next day's allowance to appear.

What counts against the free 15 minutes?

The timer runs while the assistant is listening, from when you press Ctrl+Shift+L until you stop or the session cap is reached. Mock interviews are included on the free plan and are separate from the live-help allowance.

Can I do a full interview on the free plan?

Only if it fits inside a 15-minute session, such as a short recruiter screen. A 45 or 60 minute round needs a one-time hour pack from $9.99 or a Standard subscription at $24.99 a month with 60-minute sessions.

Do I need an account for the free plan?

No. An account, created with an email link rather than a password, is only needed for paid plans so your plan follows you across devices. The free plan works without signing up.
