CoPilot Interview uses the resume and job description you paste to ground its answers and sends them, as text, to the AI model you choose; audio is streamed in short segments for transcription and is not stored on our servers; and a text transcript is saved only in your Documents folder. For anything beyond those facts, such as retention on the model provider's side, see the privacy policy. Other AI interview assistants handle resume data differently, and some say very little about it.
This page sets out what we keep and where, what "sent to the AI model" means, how to check any vendor's handling of your resume, and what to leave out of any AI tool.
What happens to your resume in CoPilot Interview
| Data | Where it goes |
|---|---|
| Pasted resume and job description | Sent as text to the AI model you pick, to ground answers and mock-interview questions |
| Interview audio | Streamed in short segments for transcription; not stored on our servers |
| Transcribed text | Sent to the AI model you pick; a text transcript is saved only in your Documents folder |
| Email address | Used for email-link sign-in; an account is needed only for paid plans |
Those are the facts we can state. Where the table is silent, for example on how long a model provider holds a request, the answer is in the privacy policy, and we would rather point you there than guess. Our general overview is AI interview assistant privacy.
What "sent to the AI model you pick" means
The answers you see are generated by a third-party model, and the text that reaches it includes your pasted resume, the job description and the transcribed question. Which model depends on your plan: Mercury 2.5 by Inception on the free plan, GPT-6 Luna on Pro, and Claude Haiku 5.5 or Gemini 3 Flash added on Pro+. Each provider has its own terms for how long requests are held and whether they are used for training, and those terms are theirs, not ours.
The practical consequence is that your resume is processed by at least two companies: us and the model provider. How AI interview assistants use your resume and job description explains why the resume is sent at all, and what changes when it is not.
How to check what any AI interview assistant keeps
Four questions settle most of it, and a vendor that cannot answer them in plain words is telling you something.
- Where does my pasted resume go, and is it stored on your servers after the session?
- Which third-party model providers receive it, and under what terms?
- Is anything I paste or say used to train models?
- How do I delete everything, and how long does deletion take?
Look for specifics: named providers, retention in days rather than "as long as necessary", and a deletion route that does not require a phone call. We compared published policies in AI interview assistant privacy policies compared.
What to leave out of any AI tool
A resume works fine for grounding answers without its most sensitive lines. Before pasting into any assistant, including ours, remove your home address, date of birth, national ID or Social Security number, and the names and phone numbers of references. Consider removing salary history. None of these improves the answers, and each is a liability if any company in the chain is breached.
Never paste material the employer gave you under an NDA, such as a case pack or private code. That is their data, not yours; see AI interview assistants and confidential interview material. This is not legal advice, but it is the rule we follow ourselves.
Deleting your data
The transcript is a file in your Documents folder, so deleting it is deleting the file; nothing on our servers holds a copy. To delete an account, email support@copilotinterview.com from the address you signed in with. For deletion on the model provider's side, their policy governs, and the privacy policy lists who they are. Step-by-step instructions are in how to delete your AI interview assistant data.
Where CoPilot Interview fits
CoPilot Interview is an AI interview assistant whose data handling we have tried to make describable in one table: audio not stored on our servers, transcript only in your Documents folder, resume text sent to the model you choose. A redacted resume grounds answers just as well as a full one, so start with the free plan and a trimmed resume, and follow your employer's rules about what, if anything, may be used during the interview itself.
Disclosure: CoPilot Interview is our product, so weigh what we say about it accordingly.
Frequently asked questions
Does CoPilot Interview store my resume on its servers?
Your pasted resume and job description are sent as text to the AI model you choose to ground answers. Audio is not stored on our servers, and the transcript is saved only in your Documents folder. For retention details beyond that, including on the model provider's side, see the privacy policy at /privacy.
Which AI companies see my resume?
The model you pick receives the resume text along with the job description and transcribed questions. On the free plan that is Mercury 2.5 by Inception; Pro uses GPT-6 Luna; Pro+ adds Claude Haiku 5.5 and Gemini 3 Flash. Each provider's own terms govern how long it holds requests.
Do I have to paste my full resume?
No. Paste a trimmed version with your address, date of birth, ID numbers and reference contacts removed. The resume and job description are used to ground answers and to build mock-interview questions from your experience, and a trimmed resume does that just as well as a complete one.
How do I delete everything CoPilot Interview has about me?
Delete the transcript file from your Documents folder, since no copy is held on our servers. To delete your account, email support@copilotinterview.com from your sign-in address. Deletion by the AI model provider follows that provider's policy; the privacy policy names the providers.
Try it with a trimmed resume
The free plan needs no credit card, and a redacted resume works as well as a full one.
