Cluely Review

Cluely is the name most people in this category have heard, which makes it the default choice and sometimes the wrong one. It is a general meeting assistant, and whether that suits you depends on what you are actually buying it for.

We build CoPilot Interview, which competes with this product. Read us critically, and here is our standard: everything below comes from the vendor's own published material, checked on 3 October 2026. We do not repeat unaudited marketing statistics as fact, and we do not quote prices that change week to week. Where something is not published, we say so rather than guessing.

What it is

A general-purpose live assistant that sits over any call. It reads your screen, listens to system audio and surfaces answers on top of whatever app you are in. Interviews are one use case among meetings, sales calls and coursework, and the product is built for all of them rather than any one.

It runs on macOS and Windows as a desktop app, and on iOS.

What it does well

The meeting record is the strongest part and the reason the subscription keeps earning after a job search ends. It keeps a live transcript, takes notes, writes a recap when the call finishes, and lets you query past meetings later. Few interview-specific tools offer anything comparable, because they have no reason to.

Answers are summoned with a keyboard shortcut rather than appearing automatically, which keeps the screen calm while you are talking. You can give it custom instructions and upload files for context.

Is Cluely free?

Partly. The Starter plan costs nothing and needs no subscription, but it caps how many AI responses you get and how much meeting notetaking it will do, and limits you to three uploaded files. It is enough to form an impression, not enough to carry you through a full interview loop.

What the tiers cost

Three desktop tiers, checked on 3 October 2026: Starter is free, Pro is $19.99/mo or $11.99/mo billed annually, and Pro + Undetectability is $149.99/mo or $44.99/mo billed annually.

The gap between the top two tiers is worth pausing on, because exactly one capability separates them: being hidden from meeting screen-sharing software. Everything else in the top tier is already in Pro. Whether that single line is worth roughly seven times the Pro price monthly is the main decision this product asks you to make.

Where a generalist costs you in an interview

A tool that handles any conversation has to infer what kind it is in. In a client call that guess barely matters; in an interview it decides whether the text on your screen is usable. You get an answer, not an answer shaped for a recruiter screen or a system design round.

There is also nothing afterwards that tells you how you performed. A recap says what was said; it will not point out that you buried the result in all four of your stories.

Alternatives worth comparing

For the pricing detail on its own, see our Cluely pricing breakdown. For head-to-heads, see Final Round AI vs Cluely, LockedIn AI vs Cluely and Cluely vs Parakeet AI.

Disclosed alternative: CoPilot Interview is interview-only, a native Windows and macOS app answering in about four seconds, with model choice per question and a permanent free tier that needs no card. If you want one overlay for every call you take, Cluely covers ground we deliberately do not.

Frequently asked questions

Is Cluely free?

There is a free Starter plan, but it is capped: a limited number of AI responses, limited meeting notetaking and up to three uploaded files. You can judge the product on it, but you cannot run a full interview loop on it. Unlimited use starts at the Pro tier.

How much does Cluely cost?

Checked on 3 October 2026: Pro is $19.99/mo, or $11.99/mo billed annually. Pro + Undetectability is $149.99/mo, or $44.99/mo billed annually. Cluely changes pricing fairly often, so confirm on cluely.com/pricing before buying.

What is the difference between Pro and Pro + Undetectability?

One capability: the top tier is hidden from meeting screen-sharing software. Everything else in it is already included in Pro. That makes the decision unusually clear, because you are paying the difference for exactly one feature rather than a bundle.

Is Cluely good for interviews?

It works in interviews, but it is not built for them. You get a suggested answer in prose on your own screen, which is often enough for a recruiter screen or a manager conversation. What you do not get is an answer shaped for the round you are in, published coding-platform support, or any feedback afterwards on how you performed.

Does Cluely work on Windows?

Yes. The vendor publishes macOS and Windows desktop apps plus an iOS app. Windows support is confirmed on its download page rather than its homepage, which has confused some buyers.

Is Cluely worth it?

If you take calls all week and would use the transcript, notes, recap and the ability to query past meetings, it earns its keep beyond any job search. If you are buying it purely to get through a handful of interviews, you are paying for breadth you will not use, and an interview-specific tool will give you better-shaped answers for less.
