Interviews Longer Than an Hour: Session Limits and How to Plan

A CoPilot Interview live session lasts 15 minutes on the free plan, 60 minutes on Standard and 70 minutes on Pro and Pro+, so any interview longer than an hour crosses at least one session boundary on every plan. On the paid plans there is no gap between sessions: you start the next one and keep going.

The free plan allows 15 minutes of live help a day in total.

This page sets out the AI interview assistant session limit for each plan and gives a way to plan a 90-minute or multi-hour loop so the boundary lands in a break you chose, not in the middle of an answer.

Session limits by plan

Two numbers matter. A session is the longest stretch of continuous live listening before the assistant stops and you start again. The daily limit is the total live time across all sessions in a day.

Hour packs are the other option: $9.99 buys 1 hour of live time, one-time, and it never expires; see the pricing page for the hours in the two larger packs. The plans explained page has the full comparison.

How long interviews longer than an hour actually run

The common shapes:

In each case the audio runs longer than a 60- or 70-minute session. Our pages on final-round interviews and back-to-back interviews cover the interview content; this page is about the clock.

Where to put the session boundary

Do not wait for the timer. Start a new session yourself at a natural break, so the next 60 or 70 minutes covers the next whole segment. Natural breaks: the handoff between interviewers, the scheduled break, or the moment someone says “any questions for me?”.

A new question is detected after a 20-second pause, so a short silence between interviewers is handled on its own. A 10-minute idle pause stops listening until you press Ctrl+Shift+L (Cmd+Shift+L on macOS), so after a 15-minute break you press that once as the next interviewer joins. The rule we give candidates: restart at every break longer than two minutes, whether or not the timer is close.

A worked plan for a 90-minute round and a four-hour loop

90-minute case or panel on Standard. Session one covers the first 55 minutes; when the interviewer shifts to the second half, start session two. The two sessions use 90 of your 100 daily minutes. On Pro, one 70-minute session reaches the final third; start the second session at the first pause after the hour.

Four 50-minute rounds with 10-minute breaks.

  1. On Pro or Pro+, run one session per round and start the next during each break. Four sessions, no gap, no daily cap.
  2. On Standard, the 100-minute daily cap covers two rounds. Decide in advance which two matter most for live help and prepare the other two with mock interviews only.
  3. On the free plan, 15 minutes covers one hard block, such as the technical questions in the hiring-manager round. Choose it before the day starts.

How many minutes you need works through the arithmetic for common schedules.

Keep notes ready so the boundary costs nothing

Keep a one-page notes file open next to the assistant window: your three or four core stories, the job description, and the names of the interviewers. If a question arrives while you are restarting, your notes carry you until the captions resume, which happens as soon as the interviewer speaks again.

A text transcript of each session is saved only in your Documents folder; audio is streamed in short segments for transcription and is not stored on our servers. Long loops usually arrive with a rules email; read it and follow your employer's rules, and where live tools are not permitted, use the mock interviews beforehand and nothing on the day.

Where CoPilot Interview fits

CoPilot Interview is an AI interview assistant whose session length is a plan feature: 15 minutes free, 60 on Standard, 70 on Pro and Pro+, with no gap between sessions on the paid plans. Note that the 14-day money-back guarantee on a new subscription applies only while under 30 minutes of live session time has been used, so a full 90-minute interview uses it up.

Disclosure: CoPilot Interview is our product, so weigh what we say about it accordingly.

Frequently asked questions

How long is a CoPilot Interview live session?

Up to 15 minutes on the free plan, 60 minutes on Standard and 70 minutes on Pro and Pro+. A session is one continuous stretch of live listening; on the paid plans you start the next one with no gap.

Is there a gap between sessions?

Not on Standard, Pro or Pro+; the next session starts immediately. Standard is capped at 100 minutes a day in total, Pro and Pro+ have unlimited sessions, and the free plan allows 15 minutes a day.

What happens if the session ends in the middle of an answer?

Live listening stops at the end of the session. On a paid plan you start the next session and captions resume as soon as the interviewer speaks. To avoid this, restart the session yourself at a break before the timer runs out.

Can I buy an hour pack for one long interview?

Yes. Hour packs are one-time purchases that never expire; $9.99 buys 1 hour, and the pricing page lists the hours in the two larger packs. They suit a single long round without a monthly plan.

Does the refund guarantee cover a plan I bought for one long interview?

The 14-day money-back guarantee applies to the first payment of a new subscription only while under 30 minutes of live session time has been used. A 90-minute interview exceeds that, so treat the purchase as final.
