Is There a CoPilot Interview Chrome Extension? No, and Here Is What to Use Instead

No. There is no CoPilot Interview Chrome extension, and we have no plan to ship one.

No. There is no CoPilot Interview Chrome extension, and we have no plan to ship one. The technical reason fits in two sentences: a Chrome extension can only capture audio from a browser tab, so it cannot hear the Zoom or Microsoft Teams desktop apps that most interviews actually run in. Our desktop app listens to the computer's audio output instead, which covers every meeting app at once.

If you found an AI interview assistant Chrome extension carrying our name, it is not ours. Below: what to use on each platform, how to practice in the browser with nothing installed, and how to tell our official downloads from copies.

Why we never built a Chrome extension

An extension lives inside the browser and can hear only what the browser plays. That is fine when the interviewer sends a Google Meet link, because Meet runs in a tab. It fails the moment the interview is in the Zoom desktop app, the Teams desktop app, Webex or a phone bridge, and those are the majority of interviews we see.

A separate desktop window that listens to the computer's audio output has no such gap: anything the computer plays, it can transcribe. The trade-off is that you install it. Our extension versus desktop comparison walks through both designs without taking sides on which you should prefer.

What to use instead, by platform

Your deviceWhat to useLive helpPractice
Windows 10 or 11Direct .exe download or the Microsoft Store listing, both version 1.3.17YesYes, AI mock interviews
macOS 12 and laterDirect download; unzip, run, grant microphone and screen recording permissionsYesYes
Chromebook or LinuxNo desktop build; use the browser demo at /tryNoPractice questions, no signup
iPhoneTestFlight while App Store review is pending; practice-firstNoSpoken practice, second screen for notes
Android 10 and laterBeta companion APK from our site, about 8 MB; not on Google Play yetNoCompanion features

The Store version installs in one click, updates itself and shows no SmartScreen warning. The direct download shows the standard SmartScreen "more info" step on first run because it is a newer, less-downloaded installer. Chromebook users have a dedicated guide at AI interview help on a Chromebook.

Practice in the browser with nothing installed

The part of our product that does run in a browser is the practice demo at /try: it asks interview questions and gives feedback with no signup and no download. It is the right place to start if you are deciding whether structured practice helps you at all.

The full AI mock interview, where you paste the job description and your resume, pick the level and the mix, and an AI interviewer scores each spoken answer out of 10, runs in the desktop app and is included on the free plan. For other ways to prepare without installing anything, see AI interview assistant online, no download.

Extensions using our name are not ours

Because we publish no extension, any Chrome Web Store listing called CoPilot Interview was made by someone else, and we cannot vouch for what it does with your microphone or your pasted resume. Two checks settle it:

If you installed one, remove it from chrome://extensions and change any password you typed into it. More patterns to watch for are in how to spot fake AI interview assistant apps.

Same rules whichever tool you use

Extension or desktop app, the question of whether live help is acceptable belongs to the employer running the interview, not to the software. Read the invite, ask the recruiter if nothing is stated, and follow your employer's rules. We build for practice first; live help is for interviews where it is allowed.

Where CoPilot Interview fits

CoPilot Interview is a desktop AI interview assistant for Windows and macOS, with practice-first phone companions and a browser demo for trying practice questions. The free plan is $0, needs no credit card, and includes AI mock interviews plus 15 minutes of live help a day. If your interviews all happen in a browser tab, an extension from another vendor may be the lighter choice, and we would rather say so than pretend otherwise.

Disclosure: CoPilot Interview is our product, so weigh what we say about it accordingly.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a CoPilot Interview extension for Edge, Firefox or Safari?

No. We publish no browser extension for any browser, for the same reason there is no Chrome version: an extension can hear only the browser, not the Zoom or Teams desktop apps. The desktop app for Windows and macOS covers every meeting app by listening to the computer's audio output.

Can I use CoPilot Interview in a browser at all?

For practice, yes: the demo at /try runs practice questions with no signup or download. Live help and the full AI mock interview run in the desktop app on Windows 10 or 11 and macOS 12 and later, because they need access to the computer's audio.

I installed an extension named CoPilot Interview. What should I do?

Remove it from chrome://extensions, then change any password you entered into it, since we never ask for one. Our only official channels are copilotinterview.com, the Microsoft Store listing, TestFlight for iPhone and the Android APK from our site. Anything else is not ours.

Does the desktop app work when the interview is in Zoom's browser version?

Yes. The app listens to whatever the computer plays, so it does not matter whether Zoom, Teams or Meet runs in a tab or in its desktop client. Open the app before the call starts and it captions the interviewer either way.

Try practice questions in your browser

No download, no signup, and nothing to install until you decide the desktop app is worth it.
