If the sign-in email for your AI interview assistant has not arrived, check the spam or junk folder first, then the exact address you typed, then whether that address forwards or is an alias, then whether a work mail filter is holding or rewriting the link. If the email did arrive but the link fails, it has probably expired or an older email was opened; request a new one and open the newest link on the same device. CoPilot Interview signs you in with an email link and no password, and the free plan works without signing in at all, so practice is never blocked while you sort this out.
How the magic link works, and why it fails
You type your email, we send a link, you click it, you are signed in. There is no password to forget or leak, which is why we chose it. The trade-off is that sign-in now depends on email delivery, and email delivery has more moving parts than a password box. An account is needed only for paid plans so your plan follows you across devices; the free plan, including AI mock interviews and 15 minutes of live help a day, runs without an account. Our page on whether you need to sign up for an AI interview assistant spells out what each path gives you.
Six fixes, most likely first
- Spam, junk and promotions. Search all folders for "CoPilot Interview" rather than scrolling. Gmail's Promotions and Updates tabs count as separate folders for this purpose.
- The exact address. Re-open the sign-in box and read what you typed. One transposed letter sends the link to a stranger. Watch for autocorrect on phones and for .con instead of .com.
- Aliases and forwarding. If you signed up with a plus-address or an alias that forwards elsewhere, look in the destination mailbox. Some forwarders delay or drop mail that contains links.
- Work and school mail filters. Corporate gateways may quarantine the message, delay it by several minutes, or rewrite the link through a scanning service that breaks it. Use a personal address for your account; you are preparing for a job interview, so a work address is rarely the right choice anyway.
- Expired or superseded link. Links are valid for a limited time and each new request sends a fresh one. If you requested several, open only the newest email, on the same device and browser you requested it from.
- Request again from another browser. Clear the field, re-enter the address, and request a new link. If a browser extension blocks the redirect, try a private window or a different browser.
Five minutes before an interview
Do not spend them chasing an email. If you have a paid plan and cannot sign in, the free tier still works without an account: 15 minutes of live help in a session of up to 15 minutes, with Mercury 2.5 as the default model. Start the session, get through the first questions, and sort out the account afterward. If you are on the free plan, nothing is blocked at all. Answer from your preparation; the assistant is a safety net, not the performer. If the sign-in email still has not arrived after the interview, write to support@copilotinterview.com from the address you used and we will look into it.
What each symptom usually means
| Symptom | Most likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| No email within a few minutes | Spam folder or a typo | Search all folders; retype the address |
| Email arrives 10 or more minutes late | Corporate mail gateway | Use a personal address |
| Link opens an error page | Expired, superseded or rewritten link | Request a new link; open the newest email |
| Link opens but you are not signed in | Opened in a different browser or device | Open it where you requested it |
| Email never arrives at a plus-address | Forwarding dropped it | Use the base address |
After you are in
Your plan follows your account, so once you are signed in on one device you can sign in on another the same way. The account page is where you manage your plan, and the FAQ covers refunds and plan changes. If something else breaks mid-interview, from captions stopping to a hidden window, see what to do if your AI interview assistant stops working, which assumes you are already signed in.
Where CoPilot Interview fits
Our AI interview assistant uses an email link for sign-in on Windows, macOS and the phone companions, and only paid plans need an account at all. Everything on the free plan, including the AI mock interview that scores each spoken answer out of 10, works without one, so a missing email never stops you from preparing. Use live help only where it is allowed, and follow your employer's rules on assistance. Disclosure: CoPilot Interview is our product, so weigh what we say about it accordingly.
Frequently asked questions
Why haven't I received the magic link email?
Check spam, junk and promotions folders first, then confirm the address you typed is exact. Work and school mail filters often quarantine or delay sign-in emails, and some forwarding aliases drop them. Request a new link from a personal address if the first one never shows.
The link says it expired. What now?
Request a new one. Each sign-in email is valid for a limited time and each new request replaces the previous link, so open only the newest email, on the same device and browser you requested it from.
Can I use CoPilot Interview without signing in?
Yes. The free plan, including AI mock interviews and 15 minutes of live help a day, works with no account and no credit card. An account is needed only for paid plans so your plan follows you across devices.
My interview is in five minutes and I can't sign in. What should I do?
Use the free tier without signing in; it gives a 15-minute session with the default model. Answer from your preparation and fix the account afterward. Email support@copilotinterview.com from the address you used if the link still has not arrived.
Is a password-free sign-in safe?
It removes the most common failure, a reused or leaked password, and ties sign-in to access to your mailbox. The trade-off is dependence on email delivery. Use a personal address you control and keep that mailbox's own sign-in secure.
