Yes, you can use an AI interview assistant without a subscription. CoPilot Interview gives you two ways: the free plan, which is $0 forever with 15 free minutes every day, and one-time hour packs that never expire: 1 hour for $5.99, 5 hours for $19.99 or 15 hours for $34.99. Neither renews, so there is nothing to cancel and no charge you forget about.
A subscription is still the cheaper choice in one situation: a dense burst of interviews with full-length rehearsals almost every day. Even then you don't have to keep it, because you can cancel right after subscribing and keep access until the end of the period you paid for.
Below: what renews and what doesn't, how the hour packs work, who should pick which option, and worked costs for three interview schedules. All prices are in USD.
AI interview assistant without a subscription: what renews and what doesn't
Every CoPilot Interview option falls into one of three groups: free, paid once, or paid on repeat. Full plan details are on the pricing page.
| Option | Price | Renews? | Expires? | Fits |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free plan | $0 | No | Never; 15 fresh minutes every day | Daily practice, short calls |
| 1-hour pack | $5.99 one-time | No | Never | One interview on the calendar |
| 5-hour pack | $19.99 one-time | No | Never | A handful of rounds, timing unknown |
| 15-hour pack | $34.99 one-time | No | Never | A long or uneven search |
| Standard monthly | $14.99/mo (sale; regular $19.99) | Monthly, until you cancel | Access runs to the end of the paid month | A dense burst of rounds and rehearsals |
| Pro or Pro+ monthly | $29.99/mo or $49.99/mo | Monthly, until you cancel | Same as Standard | Back-to-back rounds; stronger models |
| Annual plans | Standard $99.99, Pro $199.99, Pro+ $249.99 a year | Yearly | Access runs to the end of the paid year | A search that runs most of a year |
The plans differ in limits too. Free sessions run up to 15 minutes. Standard allows 60-minute sessions, as many as you like, 2 hours apart. Pro and Pro+ allow 70-minute sessions with no gap. Free and Standard use fast free models, Pro adds ChatGPT and Gemini models, and Pro+ adds Claude.
How one-time hour packs work
An hour pack is a single payment for a block of session time. Three things make it different from a plan:
- It never expires. Hours you don't use stay available, so a spare hour from this search waits for the next one.
- Nothing renews. There is no billing date to track and nothing to cancel.
- The rate drops with size. The 1-hour pack works out to $5.99 an hour, the 5-hour pack to about $4.00 and the 15-hour pack to about $2.33.
One difference matters before you buy. The 14-day money-back guarantee is written for the first payment of a new subscription, and only while you have used under 30 minutes of live session time. Hour packs are one-time purchases, so test the app on the free plan first: confirm your audio, your call app and the answers work on your computer before you spend anything. The refund policy also says that if the app wouldn't run at all, you should write to support regardless.

Who should pick which option
Stay on the free plan if
- You are mostly practicing. Mock Interview is included, with each spoken answer scored out of 10, what to fix and a model answer.
- Your live calls are short, such as a 10-minute recruiter check-in that fits inside one free session.
Buy an hour pack if
- You have one or two interviews booked: buy a 1-hour pack per round, or the 5-hour pack if you expect a few more spread over the coming months.
- Your search is slow and unpredictable. A 15-hour pack covers months of occasional rounds without a monthly bill.
- You simply don't want a recurring charge on your card.
Take one month of a plan, then cancel, if
- Three or more live hours land in the same month and you don't need spare hours afterward. Three 1-hour packs cost $17.97; a month of Standard costs $14.99, and every extra hour that month widens the gap.
- You have two rounds on the same day less than 2 hours apart. Standard needs a 2-hour gap between sessions; Pro and Pro+ don't.
Consider an annual plan only if
- You expect to interview, or practice at full length, for most of a year. Annual plans save up to 58% against regular monthly prices, but they renew yearly, which is the opposite of what most people searching for "no subscription" want.
Worked costs for three interview schedules
These schedules are examples we made up to show the math. Swap in your own hours. In every case, practice on the free plan costs $0 and is not counted below.
Example 1: one final round next week
You have a single 60-minute video final in eight days. You rehearse with Mock Interview in the free 15 minutes each day, then need one hour of live session time for the round itself.
- 1-hour pack: $5.99. Nothing to cancel afterward.
- One month of Standard: $14.99, so $9.00 more for hours you probably won't use.
Pick: the 1-hour pack.
Example 2: a slow search over five months
Interviews arrive unevenly: none in month one, three in month two, one in month three, two in month four and four in month five. That is 10 one-hour rounds in total.
- 15-hour pack: $34.99, with 5 hours left over that never expire. That is $3.50 per hour you actually used.
- Two 5-hour packs: $39.98, with nothing left over.
- Ten 1-hour packs: $59.90.
- Standard for the four months with interviews: $59.96 at $14.99 a month, and you have to remember to start and stop it.
- Standard annual: $99.99, paid up front.
Pick: the 15-hour pack. The leftover hours cover the start of your next search.
Example 3: a two-week sprint
You have six one-hour rounds in ten days and want a full-length rehearsal on each of those ten days. That is 16 hours in under a month.
- Hour packs: a 15-hour pack plus a 1-hour pack, $40.98.
- One month of Standard: $14.99. Sessions run up to 60 minutes, as many as you like, 2 hours apart.
- One month of Pro: $29.99, if any two sessions fall less than 2 hours apart.
Pick: one month of Standard, cancelled straight after you subscribe so it can't renew. A subscription you don't keep is still cheaper here than paying by the hour.
Side by side:
| Example schedule | Live hours | Cheapest with no subscription | Cheapest overall |
|---|---|---|---|
| One final round | 1 | 1-hour pack, $5.99 | 1-hour pack, $5.99 |
| Five-month slow search | 10 | 15-hour pack, $34.99 | 15-hour pack, $34.99 |
| Two-week sprint | 16 | 15-hour plus 1-hour pack, $40.98 | One month of Standard, $14.99 |
Using a subscription without keeping it
If a monthly plan is cheaper for your burst, you can treat it like a one-time purchase:
- Subscribe when the burst starts, not weeks ahead.
- Cancel from your account page the same day. Cancelling stops the renewal. Your access continues until the end of the month you paid for.
- Know what the guarantee covers. The 14-day money-back guarantee applies to the first payment of a new subscription if you have used under 30 minutes of live session time. Renewal charges are not covered, which is why cancelling early is the safe default.
- Drop back to free afterward. When the paid month ends, you are on the free plan again with 15 minutes a day.
Let the free plan do the practice
The cheapest paid hour is the one you don't need. Most preparation fits inside the free plan: 15 free minutes every day, in sessions up to 15 minutes, with all four modes, including Mock Interview and the Resume Builder. Rehearse on free, and spend paid hours only where length matters:
- Use free sessions for single behavioral answers, one coding problem talked through out loud, a Resume Builder pass for a new posting, and a short audio check before a call.
- Save paid hours for the round itself and one full-length rehearsal the day before, when you need a session that runs past 15 minutes.
The same app works as a real-time interview assistant on a call, with live captions and a structured answer in about 2 seconds. Follow the rules of the employer or assessment you're in — many people use it only to practice, which works on the free plan.

Can I use an AI interview assistant without a subscription?
Yes. CoPilot Interview's free plan is $0 forever with 15 free minutes every day, and its one-time hour packs cost $5.99 for 1 hour, $19.99 for 5 hours or $34.99 for 15 hours. Neither renews.
Do CoPilot Interview hour packs expire?
No. Hour packs are one-time purchases that never expire, so unused hours stay available for a later interview or your next job search.
Is an hour pack or a monthly plan cheaper?
It depends on your hours. For one or two hours, or rounds spread over months, a pack usually costs less. If three or more hours fall within one month, one month of Standard at $14.99 costs less than buying packs for that month, and you can cancel it right away so it does not renew.
Is the free plan a trial?
No. The free plan is $0 forever and does not expire. You get 15 free minutes every day, in sessions up to 15 minutes, with all four modes including Mock Interview.
Can I get a refund on an hour pack?
The 14-day money-back guarantee is written for the first payment of a new subscription, used under 30 minutes. Hour packs are one-time purchases, so test on the free plan first. If the app would not run at all, the refund policy says to write to support regardless.
How do I stop a monthly plan from renewing?
Cancel from your account page. Cancelling stops future charges, and you keep access until the end of the period you already paid for. After that you are back on the free plan.
