Interview Coder is built for one thing: the coding screen. LockedIn AI is built for the whole interview loop. Both do their jobs, and the interesting question is not which is better but how many of your rounds each one shows up for.

So here is a loop that looks like most people's, stage by stage, with only what each vendor publishes about itself.

Stage 1: the recruiter screen

Thirty minutes, no code. You are asked why this company, what you are looking for, and to walk through your resume. LockedIn AI is built for exactly this: it formats answers in STAR order and runs an AI Coach alongside the copilot. Interview Coder has nothing to offer here, because a recruiter screen has no problem statement on screen to read.

Stage 2: the coding screen

This is Interview Coder's round and it is specialised for it. It reads the problem from your screen and transcribes the interviewer's audio, and it publishes support for HackerRank, CoderPad, Codility and LeetCode, with video coverage across Teams, Zoom, Meet, Amazon Chime, Webex and Lark/Feishu.

LockedIn AI also covers this round, and on paper covers more platforms: its Coding Copilot lists LeetCode, HackerRank, CodeSignal, CoderPad, HackerEarth, Codility and InterviewBit, with around twelve languages and a VSCode extension. A specialist is not automatically deeper than a generalist on the specialist's own round, and this is a case where the broader product publishes the longer list.

Stage 3: system design

Forty-five minutes of talking through a design, often with a blank diagramming tool. There is no problem to lift off the screen and no code to produce, so a coding-screen tool has little to contribute. LockedIn AI's live answers and coaching layer apply, though system design is the round where any tool helps least, because the interviewer is probing how you think rather than what you know.

Stage 4: behavioral

Conflict, failure, influence without authority. STAR-formatted answers exist for this round specifically, and LockedIn AI's competency-scoring report afterwards tells you which competencies you were weak on. Interview Coder is silent.

Stage 5: the manager conversation

Half judgement call, half negotiation. No tool does much here, though live prompts on a hiring manager's question are still worth something. Again, one product is present and the other is not.

The coverage map

Neither set of prices appears here on purpose. Interview Coder's own pricing path returns a 404 and the figures on its homepage are shown against struck-through promotional prices, and LockedIn AI runs offers too. Check both vendors directly.

So who should buy which

• Buy Interview Coder if your bottleneck is genuinely and only the coding screen, you are confident in every conversational round, and you would rather own a tool outright than rent one.
• Buy LockedIn AI if your loop has four or five stages, or if the rounds that scare you are the ones where you have to talk.
• If you are early-career, the behavioral and recruiter rounds are usually where offers are lost, not the coding screen. That argues for coverage over depth.

That turns on billing shape more than price. Interview Coder sells a credit-metered monthly plan alongside a one-time lifetime licence, so a long search can favour buying outright. LockedIn AI sells unlimited plans, credit packs that do not expire and a lifetime option with a money-back guarantee. Work out how many rounds you expect, then check current prices on both sites.

What platforms does each one run on?

Interview Coder runs on Windows and Mac, and its own documentation notes caveats on Intel Macs. LockedIn AI runs on Windows 10 or later, macOS 13.1 or later, a web app, and iOS and Android. If you need something other than a modern Windows or Mac laptop, check carefully before buying.

Is Interview Coder the same company as Cluely?

They share an origin. Interview Coder was built by Chungin "Roy" Lee and Neel Shanmugam and rebranded to Cluely in April 2025, but both domains still sell products separately in 2026. What the relationship is today is not clear from the public record, so ask the vendor if it affects your decision.
