Call centres and BPOs interview hundreds of candidates a month with recruiters who each have their own idea of a good answer, and the two things an interview copilot fixes are consistency, the same scenario and communication questions scored the same way by every recruiter, and notes, written during the call so the recruiter can listen for how the candidate actually sounds. This page covers what high-volume hiring needs, how to score communication and scenario answers, how mock calls and typing tests fit alongside, where an AI interviewer makes more sense than a copilot, and candidate notice at volume.
What high-volume hiring needs
| Need | Why it matters in a call centre | What the copilot does |
|---|---|---|
| The same questions from every recruiter | Ten recruiters, one quality bar | A fixed question set per campaign or client |
| Scoring that does not drift by Friday | Fatigue changes judgment | Rubric scoring with evidence notes, every time |
| Notes without typing | Recruiters need to hear tone and pace | Live notes and a report at the end |
| Logistics captured cleanly | Shifts, start dates, transport decide attendance | Logistics answers recorded, not scored |
| Attrition insight | Early attrition is the biggest cost | Comparable reports to review against who stayed |
The recruiter workflow across a day of screens is described in interview copilot for recruiters.
Scoring communication and scenarios
Two things matter in a support hire: can the candidate handle a difficult customer scenario (acknowledge, clarify, resolve, confirm) and can they communicate clearly under mild pressure. The first is a rubric the copilot scores from the transcript with evidence. The second is partly in the transcript, structure and completeness, and partly in what the recruiter hears, pace, warmth and clarity, which is why the recruiter's own line on the report matters. Mock calls and the typing test remain separate assessments of skill; the copilot does not replace them, and candidates take them unaided.
AI interviewer or copilot?
For the first filter on very high volumes, an asynchronous AI interviewer that asks fixed questions and scores them without a recruiter is often the right tool, provided candidates are told and offered an alternative. For the human screen that follows, the copilot keeps recruiters consistent. Many centres end up with both and the same rubric in each, so scores line up when a candidate reaches the operations manager. The decision by role volume and the duties that come with automation are set out in AI interviewer vs human screening for hiring teams.
Notice and data at volume
- Put the notice in the invitation template once: an assistant scores answers and takes notes; an alternative is available on request.
- Decide retention for reports and apply it automatically to the shared folder or dashboard.
- Score answer content only; never voice, accent or video, which matters in markets where candidates are second-language speakers.
- Review pass-through rates by stage monthly.
- Confirm the data path: audio streamed in short segments and not stored on our servers, transcripts kept only on the recruiter's computer, text sent to the model you select.
Where CoPilot Interview fits
CoPilot Interview is the AI interview assistant candidates use to prepare for your screens; Interviewer Mode is the same desktop app on the recruiter's side, with role-specific questions by category, live rubric scoring with evidence notes, follow-up question ideas, red and green flags as hypotheses, and a hire/no-hire report with section scores, flags and quotes, free in the desktop app for Windows and macOS with no signup. Team plans add campaign templates, centralised billing and a central evaluation dashboard across recruiters. See Interviewer Mode. Disclose it in the invitation, keep skills tests separate, and follow your employer's rules and your client contracts on data.
Disclosure: CoPilot Interview is our product, so weigh what we say about it accordingly.
Frequently asked questions
How do call centres use an interview copilot?
Every recruiter runs the same scenario and communication question set per campaign; the copilot scores answers against a rubric with evidence notes and writes the report so the recruiter can listen to how the candidate sounds.
Should a call centre use an AI interviewer or a copilot?
Often both: an asynchronous AI interviewer for the first filter at very high volume, with notice and an alternative, and a copilot to keep the human screen consistent, using the same rubric.
Does the copilot replace mock calls and typing tests?
No. Those assess skills directly and candidates take them unaided; the copilot structures the interview conversation.
How do we handle candidate notice at volume?
Put it in the invitation template with the alternative offered, set automatic retention on reports, score content only, and review pass-through rates monthly.
