How to Get the CoPilot Interview iPhone App Through TestFlight

While App Store review of version 1.3.16 is pending, the CoPilot Interview iPhone app is distributed through TestFlight, Apple's own app for trying software before it reaches the App Store. To get it, install TestFlight from the App Store, open the invite link on your iPhone, tap Install, and accept updates when TestFlight prompts you.

The phone app is built for practice: it listens through the microphone, shows captions and a structured answer while you rehearse, and doubles as a second screen for your notes. It is not the live desktop loop that listens to a meeting; that runs on the Windows or macOS app. Below are the steps, what TestFlight is, what the iPhone app does and does not do, and a short test.

What TestFlight is

TestFlight is Apple's official app for distributing iPhone apps before or alongside App Store release. Developers upload a build, Apple checks it, and testers install it through TestFlight using an invite link or email. It is the same mechanism Apple uses for every iOS beta, so it is safe and does not require changing any setting on your phone.

Two things differ from a normal App Store install: updates arrive through TestFlight rather than the App Store, and each build is time-limited, so keep TestFlight installed and accept updates when it asks.

Install the CoPilot Interview iPhone app in five steps

  1. Open the App Store on your iPhone, search for TestFlight and install it. It is made by Apple.
  2. Open the CoPilot Interview TestFlight invite link on the iPhone itself, not on a computer. It opens in TestFlight.
  3. Tap Accept, then Install. The app appears on your home screen like any other.
  4. Open it and allow microphone access when asked; spoken practice needs it. Notifications are optional.
  5. When TestFlight shows a new build, tap Update. Builds expire, so do this when prompted.

If you do not have the invite link, start from our iPhone overview for the current way to get the app.

What the iPhone app is for: spoken practice and a second screen

The iPhone app is practice-first. Paste the job description and your resume, choose the level and the mix of behavioral, technical, system design and coding questions, and an AI interviewer asks questions built from your resume, reads them aloud and scores each spoken answer out of 10 with what worked, what to improve and a model answer. Doing this out loud on a phone, on a walk or on a commute, is the part most people skip.

Its second job is a second screen. During a desktop interview you can keep your own prepared notes on the phone beside the laptop. Our two-device setup guide shows the layouts that work.

What it does not do

The live loop, where the app captions the interviewer and drafts an answer in about 2 seconds, runs on the desktop app because it listens to the computer's audio output. A phone across the desk hears room audio through its microphone, which is slower and less accurate, so we did not build the phone app that way.

Android users have a beta companion as an APK, about 8 MB, for Android 10 and later; see the Android companion page. Both phone apps are covered in our mobile app overview.

A short test after installing

  1. Open the app, allow the microphone, and say a practice question out loud, or have a friend ask one.
  2. Confirm the caption matches the question and that a structured answer appears.
  3. Open TestFlight and check that CoPilot Interview shows no pending update.

If the microphone does not pick you up, check Settings > Privacy & Security > Microphone on the iPhone and make sure CoPilot Interview is switched on.

Where CoPilot Interview fits

CoPilot Interview is an AI interview assistant whose phone app exists to make practice easy to do out loud, anywhere. For the interview itself, live help is a desktop feature for situations where the employer permits it, and in every case you should follow your employer's rules. Disclosure: CoPilot Interview is our product, so weigh what we say about it accordingly.

Frequently asked questions

Why is the CoPilot Interview iPhone app on TestFlight instead of the App Store?

Version 1.3.16 is under App Store review. While that review is pending, Apple's TestFlight is the official way to distribute an iPhone app to users. Once the review completes, the App Store listing takes over and TestFlight is no longer needed to install the app.

Is TestFlight safe to install?

Yes. TestFlight is made by Apple, installed from the App Store, and is the mechanism Apple itself uses for every iOS beta. Builds distributed through it are checked by Apple before testers can install them. It does not require changing any security setting on your iPhone.

Can the iPhone app listen to my interview call?

No. Live captions of an interview run on the Windows or macOS app, which listens to the computer's audio output. The iPhone app is for spoken practice, with captions and a structured answer for each question, and for keeping your own notes as a second screen beside the laptop during a desktop interview.

What happens when a TestFlight build expires?

TestFlight builds are time-limited. Before one expires, TestFlight shows an update when a newer build is available; tap Update to continue. If a build has already expired, open TestFlight and install the current build from the same listing. Keep TestFlight installed so updates keep arriving.

Is there an Android version too?

Yes, as a beta companion app delivered as an APK of about 8 MB for Android 10 and later. It is not on Google Play yet. Like the iPhone app, it is for practice and notes rather than the live desktop loop, which runs on Windows and macOS.
