An AI interview assistant helps supply chain, logistics and procurement candidates do two things: turn their work into numbers-first stories and rehearse the scenario and negotiation questions out loud. Supply chain interview questions almost always ask for a metric (OTIF, inventory turns, forecast accuracy, cost per unit), a disruption you handled and a supplier you negotiated with. A mock interviewer that asks those aloud and scores your answers shows where the numbers are missing.
Live help applies to video screens where the employer allows it. Case exercises and negotiation role-plays are practice-only, and any figure you quote must be one you can defend.
Rounds for planner, buyer and logistics roles
A recruiter screen, a hiring manager interview, then one or two of: an Excel or case exercise (an inventory analysis, a demand forecast, a landed-cost comparison), a cross-functional panel with finance and operations, and for procurement a negotiation role-play. Planners get the most analytical testing, buyers and category managers get the role-play, and logistics managers get scenario questions about carriers, warehouses and service failures. Our operations manager page covers the people-management half of a logistics manager interview.
Supply chain interview questions, with answer outlines
- Tell me about a disruption you managed. The signal, the exposure, what you did (alternate source, expedite, allocation), the service level you held, and the structural change afterward, such as dual sourcing.
- How do you set safety stock? Demand and lead-time variability, the service-level target, the carrying-cost tradeoff, and how often you review it.
- Walk me through a supplier negotiation. Preparation (should-cost, alternatives, total cost of ownership), the levers (volume, terms, lead time), the outcome and the relationship afterward.
- How do you measure and improve forecast accuracy? MAPE and bias by segment, cleaning history for promotions and stockouts, collaboration with sales through S&OP.
- A key supplier is late and the line is at risk. Confirm facts, expedite, find alternatives, tell stakeholders early, then root cause and scorecard.
- How do you cut freight cost without hurting service? Mode shift, consolidation, carrier bids, routing, packaging density.
- What do you do with inventory that is not moving? ABC and XYZ segmentation, root cause, liquidate or rework, and the policy change that stops it recurring.
- Sales wants more inventory, finance wants less. Scenarios with numbers, agreed service targets, S&OP governance.
- How do you qualify a new supplier? Quality system, capacity, financial health, an audit, a pilot order, then the scorecard.
- Which systems have you used? ERP, WMS, TMS and planning tools by name, honest about depth.
The metrics vocabulary, and how to say it
Interviewers hear vague claims all day. State the metric, the before and after, and the period. Percentages and ratios travel better than absolute figures, which may be confidential anyway.
| Metric | What it measures | How to state it in an answer |
|---|---|---|
| OTIF | Orders delivered on time and in full | "OTIF went from 91 to 96 percent over two quarters" |
| Inventory turns | How often stock sells through in a year | "Turns rose from 6 to 8 after the segmentation" |
| Forecast accuracy (MAPE) | Average forecast error | "MAPE fell from 32 to 24 percent on A items" |
| Fill rate | Demand met from stock on hand | "Fill rate held above 98 percent through the shortage" |
| Cost per unit shipped | Freight and handling per unit | "Cost per unit down 7 percent through consolidation" |
| Supplier lead time | Order to receipt | "Average lead time cut from 45 to 30 days" |

A practice plan with the AI mock interview
Paste the posting and your resume into the AI mock interview, choose a behavioral and technical mix, and it asks questions built from both, reads them aloud and scores each spoken answer out of 10 with what worked, what to improve and a model answer. It is on the free plan.
- Week one: three sessions. After each, list every claim you made without a number and find the number.
- Week two: two sessions on the disruption story and the negotiation walk-through, each under two minutes.
- For a role-play: rehearse your opening position, your walk-away and two concessions aloud.
Live help on video screens, and what to verify
On a Zoom, Teams or Meet screen where the employer allows it, the desktop assistant captions each question and drafts a structured answer in about two seconds, which helps when a panel stacks three metrics into one question. It cannot know your numbers; it can only remind you of the shape. Check every figure against your own records and never quote a confidential supplier price. Case exercises, Excel tests and in-person role-plays are practice-only. Some employers now state AI rules in the invitation; read them, answer honestly if asked and follow your employer's rules.
Where CoPilot Interview fits
CoPilot Interview is a desktop AI interview assistant for Windows and macOS. The free plan includes the mock interview and 15 minutes of live help a day. For a broader question list, see operations manager interview questions, which overlaps heavily with logistics roles. Disclosure: CoPilot Interview is our product, so weigh what we say about it accordingly.
Frequently asked questions
What questions are asked in a supply chain interview?
A disruption you managed, how you set safety stock, a supplier negotiation, forecast accuracy, a late supplier, freight cost reduction, slow-moving inventory, a sales-versus-finance inventory conflict, supplier qualification and which systems you have used. Expect to attach a metric to each.
Which supply chain metrics should I know for an interview?
OTIF, fill rate, inventory turns and days on hand, forecast accuracy (MAPE and bias), cost per unit shipped, supplier lead time and on-time delivery, purchase price variance and perfect order rate. Know the definitions and your own before-and-after figures for the ones you owned.
How do I prepare for a procurement negotiation role-play?
Prepare a should-cost estimate, your alternatives, a walk-away point and two concessions you can trade. Open with questions, not a price. Rehearse aloud so the language is ready; the role-play itself is in person or live on video and is practice-only.
Can I use an AI interview assistant in a supply chain video interview?
Where the employer allows it, yes, for structure and for catching multi-part questions. It cannot know your metrics, so every number must come from your own records. Case exercises and role-plays are practice-only; check the employer's policy and answer honestly if asked.
