Interview Sidekick vs LockedIn AI

These two disagree about how candidates improve. One says practise more questions. The other says get told what you did badly. Both are defensible, and they suit different people.

Interview Sidekick and LockedIn AI overlap in the live interview and separate everywhere else. The split is not prep versus live, because both do some of each. It is volume versus feedback.

The volume theory

Interview Sidekick runs a before, during and after workflow whose centre of gravity is preparation. It offers practice with company-specific questions and mock interviews, and its paid tier includes a question bank the vendor sizes at more than ten thousand questions, plus AI-powered answer feedback and what it calls advanced prep insights.

The free Basic tier gives limited prep sessions, limited question-bank access and basic insights, so you can see the shape of the workflow before paying. During the interview it shows a live transcript and generates an answer when you ask, and afterwards you get transcripts. It publishes a desktop app and says it works with any video meeting software, with a coding mode it calls Code Mode.

The feedback theory

LockedIn AI puts its effort into the round itself and the report that follows. An AI Copilot suggests answers while an AI Coach runs alongside, with responses in STAR format. Afterwards you get a competency-scoring report, which tells you which competencies were weak rather than simply what was said.

Its published coverage is broad: a Coding Copilot spanning LeetCode, HackerRank, CodeSignal, CoderPad, HackerEarth, Codility and InterviewBit with around twelve languages and a VSCode extension, online assessment support, 45 or more languages and regional accents with bilingual auto-detection, and a remote-helper mode called LockedIn Duo. It runs on Windows 10 or later, macOS 13.1 or later, a web app, iOS and Android.

Which theory fits you

Volume helps when you know how to answer well but keep meeting unfamiliar questions. Feedback helps when you answer plenty of questions and keep losing anyway, because something in your delivery is not landing and you cannot see it.

There is a blunt diagnostic. If you get to final rounds and lose there, you do not have a question-coverage problem; you have a delivery problem, and a question bank will not fix it. If you freeze on questions you have never considered, the bank is exactly right.

Ignore the headline statistics on both sides. Interview Sidekick's pages cite large user counts, a star rating and a median latency; LockedIn AI publishes its own claims. None of it is independently audited, so it should not move your decision.

Where CoPilot Interview fits

Disclosure: our product. CoPilot Interview is on the live side rather than the question-bank side, as a native Windows and macOS app with about a four-second answer and a choice of GPT, Claude or Gemini per question. The free tier is permanent and needs no card, so you can find out whether live help changes anything for you before deciding which theory to buy into.

We do not ship a ten-thousand-question bank, and we do not score competencies after the round. If either of those is the thing you want, the two products above have it and we do not.

Frequently asked questions

Is Interview Sidekick a prep tool or a live assistant?

Both, weighted towards preparation. It runs a before, during and after workflow: practice with company-specific questions and mock interviews beforehand, real-time answer help with a live transcript during the call, and transcripts with AI answer feedback afterwards. Its paid tier centres on prep features including a question bank the vendor sizes at more than ten thousand questions.

What does LockedIn AI give me that a question bank does not?

A judgement on your performance. It runs an AI Coach alongside the copilot during the round and produces a competency-scoring report afterwards, so you learn which competencies were weak. A question bank widens what you have seen; scoring tells you why you are still losing rounds.

Which one is better for coding interviews?

LockedIn AI, on published detail. Its Coding Copilot names LeetCode, HackerRank, CodeSignal, CoderPad, HackerEarth, Codility and InterviewBit, with around twelve languages and a VSCode extension. Interview Sidekick has a Code Mode but does not publish a platform list, so ask before relying on it for a specific assessment.

Can I try both for free?

Both publish a free entry point. Interview Sidekick has a free Basic tier with limited prep sessions, limited question-bank access and basic insights. LockedIn AI advertises that it is free to start with no credit card required, without publishing the limits. Confirm current terms on each vendor's own site.

Which is cheaper?

It depends on your pattern, and both run promotions, so check their pricing pages. The shapes differ: Interview Sidekick bills monthly or quarterly with quarterly cheaper per month, while LockedIn AI sells unlimited plans, credit packs that do not expire and a lifetime option. Bursty interviewing suits credits; steady use suits a subscription.

I keep losing at final rounds. Which should I buy?

Feedback rather than volume. Reaching final rounds means your answers are broadly adequate, so more practice questions address a problem you do not have. Something in how you tell the story is not landing, and a scored report or a coaching layer is the tool that surfaces it.
